Katrina’s aftermath: one year later
How are you supposed to move on when everyday you are reminded of the life you once had? When everyday life causes you to have flashbacks of a place you once and will forever call home? This is the question that thousands throughout the Gulf Coast face every day of their lives, one year after Hurricane Katrina hit and destroyed everything that they owned.
Hurricane Katrina devastates New Orleans
I was home just three weeks ago, enjoying the unique city that is New Orleans, the city that I call home. You always see disaster stricken areas on CNN and on the cover of USAToday, but I am finding it hard to believe that the streets of my city are now being shown on every channel and on the cover of every newspaper.
Time to say goodbye
The time has come for me to say goodbye to the Loquitur. Tuesday, March 29 is my official last day to layout out a newspaper that I have put time and effort into for the past two years. I can remember sitting in journalism class on the first day of my sophomore year, looking at all the editors and how professional and intimidating they looked.
McGowan death hits home
Like more than 1600 American families around the country, the McGowan family received notice that Stephen McGowan, 26, brother to senior Michaela McGowan, was killed Friday, March 4, while serving in Iraq.
McGowan was serving in the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division of the U.
Clinton appointed to new UN position
Former President Bill Clinton wasnamed head of the tsunami recovery and relief movement for the United Nations. U.N . Secretary-General Kofi Annan chose Clinton for the position. In the past few weeks, Clinton and former president George H.W. bush have been making commercials and traveled all over the United in order to help raise money for the relief effort.
Response day raises money, creates tsunami
As pictures of the devastation from the tsunami poured in, aid money poured out. The images that were shown world-wide tugged at the heartstrings of everyone from celebrities to college students. Millions of dollars have been donated from everyone corner of the globe.
SET building vandalized
Vandalism amounting to $12,000 has been done to the new Science Education and Technology building. The damage was discovered on Nov. 3. The building, is still under construction and will not be fully ready to open for students until the fall 2005. President Iadarola informed the campus of the vandalism in an email sent to the campus: "I cannot believe this would happen to our campus.
Powell and Stern go head to head on radio
Radio jock Howard Stern called into KGO-AM radio in San Francisco while in a live interview with FCC Chairman Michael Powell. In the interview he accused Michael Powell of getting his job only because his father is Colin Powell, our current Secretary of State.
Neo-Nazi’s protest in Valley Forge Park
A national park where presidents have spoken was filled with the cries of demonstrators on Saturday, Sept. 25. The National Socialist Party, better known as the Nazi party, held a rally at Valley Forge National Park to voice their beliefs concerning immigration into the United States.
Pre 9/11 threats analyzed
On Tuesday, March 23, an independent commission discussed how both the Bush and Clinton administrations had advanced warning concerning attacks by al Qaida before Sept. 11. The administrations defended themselves by saying they did the best they could with the information they were provided.
‘Up Till Dawn’ to raise money
Cabrini will be hosting its very own "Up Till Dawn" year-long fundraising event to benefit St. Jude Children's Hospital.
"Up Till Dawn's" executive director Megan Beauduy will be hosting information sessions in order to help the student body become familiar with the project.
Coach to seek fourth straight championship
Lacrosse coach Steve Colfer hopes to lead the men's lacrosse team to the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference championship at the end of the 2004 spring season. Colfer has been coaching men's lacrosse for four years at Cabrini. Last year he lead the Cavaliers to a 13-4 season in which it won its third PAC tournament and also took home the honor of winning its first NCAA tournament game.

With the presidential election fast approaching, many Americans are turning to television and the Internet in order to find out information about the candidates. The website, Congress.org has all of the information just a click away, in order for you to find out what's going on in the world of politics.
Freshman athlete proud to be playing
Freshman Meredith Pia is finding her way on the lacrosse field. Pia, who is from Ladenburg, Pa., graduated from Kennett High School, where she played on the women's lacrosse team all four years. Pia, who plays the positions of attack wing and center, was the only freshman to play on varsity at Kennett and one of only two sophomores who played her second year.
Member overflow has students upset
Cabrini students are growing increasingly frustrated with waiting for workout machines in the Dixon Center.
The Dixon Center is accessible to all Cabrini students, employees and members of the community. However, the amount of community members seems to be increasing and Cabrini students are continuously finding themselves waiting on the sidelines while non-students exercise.
Not your typical southerner
The question I get asked the most is, "Why don't you have an accent?" News flash, I live in the city, not in the middle of nowhere. Contrary to popular belief, not everyone from the southern part of the United States has a country accent. Our lives do not consist of going out to Bourbon Street everyday after school and work partying the night away in an alcoholic stupor.
Fashion Frenzy
Cabrini students are mixing and matching this winter's trends in order to keep up with constant changing styles. College students are famous for having no money, so in order to look up-to-date with fashion, they are seeking imitation designer clothes, handbags and other accessories.
And the Mr. and Miss Cabrini winners are…
The lights were dimmed as the contestants strutted their stuff on the Cabrini runway at the annual Student Government Association sponsored event, Mr. and Miss Cabrini pageant, held Saturday, Nov.15.
Twelve hopefuls prepared to compete in four different categories: celebrity impersonations, pajama wear, talent contest and a question and answer segment.
Boredom strikes campus again
"I'm bored," seems to be the popular phrase here at Cabrini on the weekends. I know that there are things to do around campus a majority of the time, so just get out and attend events. The Campus Activities and Programming Board works hard all year round to make sure the student body has fun events to attend throughout the academic year.
