King Tut comes alive at The Franklin Institute

These words greet anxious visitors of The Franklin Institute as they shuffle through the dim entrance of the King Tutankhamun exhibit. "Amazing," whispers a mother who holds up her young son who peers through the glass case, which holds a small chest recovered from a tomb.

Men’s tennis team looks to end season at number two

The men's tennis team lost to the defending conference champs Marywood on April 14 with a match play 5-4. It was a disappointing loss for the Cavaliers as they head into the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference Individual Championships on April 20 at West End Racquet Club.

The race is on for the 2008 presidential election. With the election slowly creeping up, it has been discovered that many may be uneducated on the candidates. It can be overwhelming with the numerous candidates. Each party is pushing their best possible players for the election.

"Yo!" My mother yells from the top of the basement stairs, "Wrap it up!" It was at this time that my boyfriend and I were expected to head upstairs and he was to head straight home. No detours, please. Sleeping over was not even a question. In fact, both of my parents would have probably laughed in my face if I brought it up.

Track springs into action

The women's spring track is gearing up for another season starting this week. Coaches Tom O'Hora and James Williams are optimistic about the team and have great aspirations for this season. "We have the upper hand this season," said Williams. The team conditions year round because track is is continuous from August through May, according to O'Hora.

After the tragic death of Brazilian supermodel Ana Carolina Reston, 21, the modeling world finally took notice. She only had 88 pounds on her 5-feet-8-inch frame when she died. She refused to eat on a regular basis, surviving only on apples and tomatoes in extreme cases of hunger.

New Jersey legalizes gay unions

The New Jersey Supreme Court ruled that homosexual couples will be granted the same rights as heterosexual couples, on Wednesday, Oct. 25. However, the choice to making same-sex unions legal will be up to the lawmakers. According to the Washing Post, the new law allows same-sex couples healthcare benefits if a partner is a state worker as well and the right to inherit possessions if the deceased partner leaves behind no will.

New athletic website unveiled

Cabrini's new Athletic website is scheduled to be unveiled to the public this week. The site includes new features and gives fans up-to-the-minute highlights of their favorite Cavalier teams. Matthew Holmes, Webmaster of the marketing and communications department, said that the development of the new website was a joint effort between the athletics and the marketing and communications departments.

Smokers need to take a step back

I'm walking along the lovely Cabrini campus. I say hello to friends I pass on my way out of New Residence Hall. As I go outside, I am greeted not only by the warm sun, but also by the cloud of smoke I must pass through as I leave the building. "No big deal," I think to myself.

Student hazing not a problem

Here at the peaceful suburb of Cabrini College, the students don't see hazing as a big thing, mostly thanks to Cabrini's "No Tolerance" policy against hazing and other forms of violent or harmful initiation. Katelyn Penrose, a sophomore elementary education major plays lacrosse for Cabrini.

Cross Country still going strong

With their season underway, the cross country team has had a few meets thus far, and had mixed emotions with the overall results. This past week the cross country team faced Muhlenberg and Cedar Crest, which was more of an individual competition. There were only three women able to run, and in order to place as a team in cross country there needs to be five runners on each team.

The cross country team is looking to achieve an even greater success than last year. The women's team was ranked third and the men's team was ranked fourth in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference. There are some new athletes on the team this year, and everyone is eager to see what these additions can do.
