Seniors should opt for experience, not A’s

Now that it’s finally hitting me that, very soon, there won’t be a cafeteria below my feet and sweatpants won’t actually be the appropriate businesswear, I’m starting to realize how important all of my internships and jobs were.

Cabrini hosts St. Jude benefit dinner

Cabrini students, faculty and community members bundled up and braved the cold weather to support St. Jude's Children's Hospital on Friday, Feb. 5. In the process, guests were treated to a great dinner of comfort foods, and raised over $4,000 to support cancer research.

The return of ‘LOST’: 4 8 15 16 23 42 and other questions I need answered

Okay so seriously "LOST" sounds like the most ridiculous show on television. I only know this because a) it has taken me forever to write this article because I realize how stupid it must sound and b) because I used to be its biggest critic. Fortunately for me, two admittedly addicted "LOST" fans coaxed me into watching the season five finale.

Cabrini Fund to go towards students’ financial aid

To respond to the fi nancial aid need of students, President Marie George has designated that all the money donated to the Cabrini Fund be specifically used for financial aid. The purpose of the Cabrini Fund, an annual fund-raising campaign, is to help address the greatest needs of the college, which varies each year.

Christmas spirit about the memories, not the merch

This week, ABC Family is kicking off their "25 Days of Christmas" marathon, showing one cheesy holiday-related movie per night in anticipation of the most wonderful time of the year. As happy as I am to see Mario Lopez hit new lows with his acting "career", I just need to say: ABC Family, get on my level.

Students commemorate World AIDS Day

Cabrini students and faculty joined together to celebrate World AIDS Day on Tuesday, Dec. 1. Through participation in on and off campus events, the college community raised awareness for a disease that continues to plague the world. Though the entire campus celebrated the day, Cabrini's Catholic Relief Services ambassadors, specifically the HIV/AIDS ambassadors, planned the events that took place on campus.

Iadarola’s salary tops $1 million

Former Cabrini College president Dr. Antoinette Iadarola joined the ranks of private college presidents across the nation whose paychecks topped $1 million last year. According to a recently published report by The Chronicle of Higher Education, Iadarola was the 11th highest-paid college president in the country, with $1.

What’s on your mind? Fake fans

I'll be the first person to admit that Phillies Phever is contagious. As a self-proclaimed Red Sox fan (calm down) I've caught my fair share of criticism for rooting for the Phils during the postseason, and appropriately so. Any team vying for a World Series win, any win, against the Yankees is a friend of mine.

Social media affects admission strategies

Although colleges once cringed at the thought of Facebook or Twitter being used for more than keeping in touch or posting party pictures, student and alumni involvement with Web sites like these have forced them to alter their points of view. Tactics like social media recruitment have become increasingly important, too, for colleges suffering from the effects of a lowered enrollment.

Cabrini celebrates with family and alumni

Fall temperatures found their way onto Cabrini's campus last weekend, and brought with them a crew of excited families, friends and alumni looking to take part in Homecoming and Family Weekend, which Cabrini hosted Sept. 25 to the 27. The weekend kicked off on Friday, with the Athletic Hall of Fame Dinner in the Dixon Center.

Kanye West: Just another picture to burn

For those of you who don't follow me on Facebook or Twitter, consider yourselves lucky, because on Sunday night, you would've gotten tired of my "I-hate-you-Kanye-West" updates. Of course something tells me you probably weren't spared, considering everyone and their mom had an opinion about it.

H1N1 virus strikes college campuses

Over the years, headlines have boasted national concern for diseases like avian flu, Mad Cow disease and West Nile virus. The most recent in this series of animal-related outbreaks is the H1N1 virus, more commonly known as the swine flu. Swine flu is a respiratory disease that regularly occurs in pigs.

ECG class tackles local social issues

Cabrini's slogan, "Do Something Extraordinary," has long been manifested through social justice projects and programs, including trips to Ecuador and Guatemala. But students enrolled in the Engagement for the Common Good course series are aiming to make a difference closer to home.

To be involved or not to be involved: questions loom for Cabrini freshmen

I like to relate my college experience to believing in Santa Claus. I arrived on Cabrini's campus with visions of sugarplums and keggers, and that earnest hope that my comforter and plastic storage bins would always match. For a long time, I really believed that college would be everything the National Lampoon franchise promised me it would be.
