Senior week confusion and costs

One last chance to party with the people we've spent four years with. The events this year sound great. Wednesday is Spirit of Philadelphia, Thursday is a barbecue and Battle of the Sexes, and Friday will be Dorney Park and Dave and Busters. All of the events will cost somewhere around $60 per person.

Vandals cause costly damage to front sign

Between 10:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 29, public safety officers were notified of a second act of vandalism within two weeks to the sign at the main entrance to Cabrini. The first act on April 16 was easy to clean up because it was latex paint and easily removable.

Donations help soldiers and less fortunate

In light of recent events in our world, Cabrini has pulled together to help make life a little more bearable for those overseas and those less fortunate. Donation boxes around campus have been filled with items, showing the outpouring of support for soldiers as well as people in our communities and around the world.

How real is reality TV?

Congratulations you've won immunity! Well, not quite. The only way you're going to get immunity in the near future from reality tv is to turn off the tube. While some people may enjoy this high dose of reality shows on pretty much every network, those who don't are in for another painful season of surfing through channels to find something less "real" to watch.

History of hate symbols taught to prevent future offenses from happening on Cabrini’s campus

It has often been said that people who do not remember history are doomed to repeat it. In a forum on March 20, run by political science professors Dr. James Hedtke and Dr. Jolyon Girard, on the history of hate symbols, the subject of remembering and re-teaching the past came up as something that, as citizens, we all need to be responsible for.

Cabrini Idol’ tops the charts

Judging by the talent on the televised American Idol auditions, Cabrini would have America topped in a heartbeat. Unlike Simon, the judges of Cabrini Idol had little to say in the way of negativity. Held on March 21, Cabrini Idol drew in an impressive crowd that made the Food Court bust at the seams.

One of the few, the proud: Kate Dilworth, USMC

Two months ago, Kate Dilworth was preparing for her new life as a college graduate. She had taken the LSAT exam, finished her classes in December, and was ready for anything the world had to offer her. It turned out that the world was about to ask more of her than she probably anticipated.

Online service forms: a quick fix for facilities

Broken screens, blown out light bulbs and clogged sinks can now be fixed with just a few clicks of the mouse. Facilities has introduced an online service request form that students can access through the Cabrini website. According to Howard Holden, director of facilities, the website has become the primary means of submitting service requests on campus.

Waking up to reality and leaving the comfort zone

It's amazing how most of us spend our entire youth trying to grow up, but once we get there we want to turn around and go back. When you're a child you really have nothing to worry about other than skinned knees and trying to milk a couple of more hours of playtime out of your parents.

Elevated levels of lead are ‘no cause for concern’

Slightly elevated lead levels in the water last semester made it not uncommon to see signs posted in the Mansion that reminded everyone of a popular song by the Dave Matthew's Band. "Don't drink the water," was something that everyone working in the Mansion became used to hearing and the signs in the restrooms became commonplace.

Hey, nice eyes. Are they yours?

Jewelry, make-up, tattoos, body piercing and now, colored contacts. These fashions for your eyes are the latest craze in "decorating" your body. Make-up has always been an option for people who don't like the black circles under their eyes, their incredibly light eyelashes or their pale cheeks.

Keep in touch with friends

It's really a shame that people don't keep in touch. Every stage of your life you have a certain group of friends who you would call your best friends. When you were little you even took the time to write their names in a circle on your notebook that said, "BFF" (Best Friends Forever.

Week In Review

Women's Lacrosse The women had a great run this week beginning with a victory over Arcadia. A score of 19-2 on April 9 sent the team into their next game with their heads held high. They had their next victory over Gwynedd- Mercy on April 11, with a score of 21-4.

On the road to victory

With nicer weather on the horizon, everyone is looking for a good excuse to be outside instead of cooped up in front of a computer. What better excuse than to go watch the performance of the men's lacrosse team? With a 6-2 record as of Tuesday, the Cavaliers have had their work cut out for them, but they have proven themselves as a strong team who can get the job done.

Any form of tanning can cause cancer

With spring right around the corner and warmer weather in the past couple of weeks, many people around campus are hitting up the tanning salons. Before leaving for that exotic destination for spring break last week, the campus looked like people had already been on vacation.

Gary Goldman gears up for graduation

After four years of being a student and an athlete, senior year has arrived for basketball player Gary Goldman and it's time to say goodbye to so many of the friends and teammates who have become such a part of life that they're almost like family. For Goldman the long journey is almost over and the best part of being on the team for all these years has been winning championships with people he considers a big family.

Low self esteem causes eating disorders in athletes

The terms athlete and sports have come to be synonymous with the labels healthy and fit. What happens when athletes, trying to live up to these standards, turn to dangerous patterns in diet and exercise? A relatively new classification of eating disorder called anorexia athletica, has become a major complication in team sports.

Education majors adjust to new policy

Last semester, senior education majors were in an uproar over the new policy that concluded that student teaching was not an option until all of the National Teachers Examinations were passed. These students who did not pass the required tests would be forced to become educational studies majors.

Lackluster fans disappoint teams

Philadelphia is a city that prides itself on having the wildest, craziest and most supportive fans around. The Sixers season last year was incredible and the hoopla over the Eagles almost making it to the Super Bowl was even bigger. So what happened to the fan support at a small college just outside of this great city? Cabrini's sports teams are desperately lacking in the fan department.

Siblings to invade campus this weekend

Younger siblings can have a hard time dealing with older brothers and sisters living away from home. Even if you live at home, the amount of time that college homework can take up can have an impact on the quality time spent with siblings. Why not make them feel special and bring them to a weekend that is designed especially for them? Siblings weekend is just such a weekend right here on campus being held Feb.
