50th annual Grammy awards

The 50th annual Grammy's took place on Sunday, Feb. 10 at the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles. Nominations for awards were announced on Dec. 6, 2007. Niel Portnow, president of the National Academy of the Recording Arts and Sciences, gave a speech honoring the 50th award show.

Walnut Street Theater presents ‘The Price’

The Walnut Street Theater hosted the 1967 play "The Price" written by Arthur Miller. The old Philadelphia theater ran the play on one of their main stages running up to March 2. The play is considered one of Miller's masterpieces as it gives insights to the typical American family of the late 60's.

Faculty displays artwork in fine arts exhibit

Cabrini Faculty display their creativity at the Faculty Fine Arts Exhibit. The exhibit is located at the Grace and Joseph Gorevin Fine Arts Gallery which is on the second floor of Cabrini's Holy Spirit Library. Cabrini faculty members put up art work of different styles in the gallery for display and for sale.

Musical premieres at Walnut Street

The Walnut Street Theater: studio 5 hosts the world premiere of a new musical, "50 West 50," written by Bill Felty and Frumi Cohen. Bill Felty directs the unlikely story of four very unique, but close friends and their challenges as they work together on a dream they all share over the summer before senior year at college.

Mansion plays host to black and white gala

Students elegantly swept through the mansion and onto the dance floor for Cabrini's Black and White Gala on Saturday, Nov. 17. The dance went from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. and offered live music and dinner with dessert. The cost of the dance was $5 and the tickets were purchased at the CAP board office in Jazzman's.

‘Literary November’ creates opportunity

The English department's "Literary November" started early with a film screening the night before Halloween. A series of events are being hosted by the English department this month including a poetry reading and a trip to New York. On Thursday, Oct. 30, there was a screening of Tim Burton's "Sleepy Hollow.

Classical violinist performs in mansion

Violinist Richard Amoroso put on a stunning performance accompanied by pianist Sheri Melcher at the Cabrini Mansion on Sunday, Oct 29. An audience of all ages, from students to elderly sat in to see the moving pieces preformed by Richard Amoroso, a young member of the Philadelphia Orchestra.

Field hockey ends season

Cabrini women's field hockey team drops out of Pennsylvania Athletic Conference championships in first round to Gwynedd-Mercy College. The game had been scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 27 at Gwyned-Mercy, but due to bad weather conditions it was moved to Sunday, Oct.

Cavs defeated by rivan Eastern

Cabrini College men's soccer team played their neighbors at Eastern University on Saturday, Oct. 20. The game resulted in a 4-0 win for Eastern due to an eventful second half. The Cabrini Cavaliers are still 15-3 in their overall season and 6-2 in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference matches.

Bush makes right move vetoing plan

On Oct. 3, President Bush vetoed a very popular bill supporting the State Children's Health Insurance Program. The SCHIP program gives the children of poor families health insurance. Each state has its own regulations on eligibility for the program. Bush was right to make the decision because the bill needs to be reworked.
