Grants improve science technology

Cabrini’s faculty salaries near bottom of the barrel

Salaries for newly hired assistant professors are near the bottom of the barrel nationally. The average salary of assistant professors here is $31,000, putting Cabrini at a 4 on a scale of 1 to 5, with 1 being the best. These figures are from the annual salary survey of faculty nationwide.

Strong finish and high hopes pave way for 2003 men’s tennis season

At the beginning of the season, the men's tennis team had four players on the roster. Led by junior captain Scott Giblin, the team's only other support was from two freshmen, Mike Sofia and John Lobb and junior Tyler Duffy. After sophomores Jim Diamond, Lenny Yacona and Nick Fenton, freshman Phanaro Thatch and junior Justin Christian joined the team, the team found itself undefeated in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference with a record of 5-0.

Lemieux leading way for men’s lacrosse

The men's lacrosse team is shredding competitors on its 11 game winning streak, since losing the first two games of the season. With stellar performance and outstanding leadership, the team is currently 11-2 and has earned the no. 1 seed in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference.

Men's Lacrosse The men's lacrosse team battled Wesley on April 6 to win 9-5. The next game for the team is set for 3:30 p.m. on April 11 at Villa Julie. After losing its first two games of the season, the team has now won eight consecutive contests. Women's Lacrosse The women beat Neumann 13-10 at home on April 4.

Reggie Day, head coach of men's and women's tennis, knows that he is not much in the world of collegiate tennis without his players. Although he is a respected coach with nearly 33 years of experience scattered throughout the United States, Day said, "I don't play a single point of the matches out there.

Newly reborn and reformed, the Varsity Club is surging to involve student-athletes in community service and with each other. Although the club has been in existence for years, it has been reactivated by student-athletes interested in doing away with "hatred among teams" and pushing for the idea of "getting together to cheer for everyone," according to Katie Kempton, junior basketball player and member of the club.

Software limits students’ printing

Print limit monitoring software installed to public computers on campus will limit printing per student to minimize excessive use of paper and ink. The new software, Print Manager Plus, allows each student an arbitrary quota of 500 printed pages per semester.

Another life as a soldier

Students march in global rally

Wearing two pairs of pants, two pairs of socks, three shirts, a heavy winter coat and a scarf but no gloves, senior Renee Di Pietro marched the streets of Philadelphia rallying for peace. The Philadelphia rally was part of the largest global peace rally in world history, which sprawled from San Francisco to Rome on Saturday, Feb.

Save the trees, flush twice

New VP of student development plans to bridge gaps

After 20 years of bridging the gap between administrators and students at Villanova, Lysionek applied for the vice president of student development position at Cabrini and earned it. Now she will be bridging the same gap here as the newest senior cabinet member, replacing Dr.

Smell Nostalgic

A freshly cut Christmas tree, candles burning atop the oven, the bakery, egg nog and the rush as a brisk breeze brings aromas of the first snowfall. Almost every holiday memory is triggered by the perennial scents of the season. Every year the familiar scents of the winter months bring joy and excitement through memories and promise.

Volleyball plays as one despite loss

After losing the first two matches against Neumann last Thursday, the Lady Cavs won a close third match but lost the crucial fourth match, leading to a 3-1 defeat. The conference loss brings the Lady Cavs' record to 7-12 overall and 2-6 in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference.
