Drilling in Alaska

Although I am a Republican, I am not supportive of Bush's plan to possibly drill for oil in roughly 9 million acres of open land in Alaska. There are many pro's and con's that go along with this, but the way I figure it, there are more negative effects, especially on the wildlife that is living there, than positive effects.

Scratch the mall, shopping from home is the new in thing. More and more consumers are shopping from the convenience of their home. Only now huge companies such as Home Shopping Network and Goldpocket Interactive have made it easier for the human population to become even lazier.

Increase in car sales among the popularity of bringing your personal life with you in your car has spawned a new wave of technology. Everything from hooking up your own iPod to your radio, On-star navigational systems, touch-screen computerized navigational systems, XM radio and even DVD players have been slowly creeping their way onto the scene.

I'm not trying to step on any toes here, but it seems as though sometimes when a student tries to contact a professor for help, or in need of their assistance, they can never get a hold of them. Unbeknownst to students, teachers do have lives outside of the classroom, yet they always seem to live their lives during their prescribed office hours.

Appealing to college students and, well, to put it bluntly those who are into nifty gadgets and music, iPod has put together a clever little way to make life easier for those who run a busy lifestyle. Apple iPods has concocted an idea that if consumers bring them their iPod and CDs, iLoadiPods will rip all of your songs from those CDs onto your iPod for only $1 per CD.

Arriving fashionably late, Eddie Ifft, a stand up comedian who has performed on Comedy Central and NBC's Last Comic Standing, gave a show here at Cabrini in Grace Hall on Wednesday, Jan. 26. CAP Board sponsored the event with numerous students in attendance.

Think of your favorite movie. Now think of your favorite line from it. As you replay the scene in your head, you can remember the exact words the characters muttered to each other as you reminisce. Now, when saying the lines in your head they don't sound that bad, but when said out loud, some things are just better left alone.

Intramurals to get underway

Kristin Agostinelli Staff Writer kma724@cabrini.edu Flag football, along with other intramurals, started the week of Nov. 1st. Depending on the number of teams, flag football will be played during the weeks of Nov. 13th and Nov. 20th. There is a men's division and also a co-ed division.

Choosing a major requires careful consideration

As every college student knows, choosing a major can be critical in finding a job after graduation. However, the demand for certain jobs are on the rise and the demand for particular majors are few and far in between. There is no guarantee to any college student that they will find a job with the newly acquired skills that they have attained in the four to five years of being in school.
