Student leaders honored

Students, parents and faculty celebrated the stars of Cabrini at the 2005 leadership awards ceremony held in the Widner Center lecture hall on April 24, 2005. The ceremony opened with a speech delivered by President Iadarola that focused on the impact leadership has on fulfilling the mission and core values of Cabrini college.

Students find it easy to get high on campus

Marijuana, cocaine and prescription pills continue to be extremely accessible for students to obtain on campus, and the distributors of these drugs have no fear of getting caught. Back in December, former news editor Lauren Reilly reported on the accessibility of drugs on campus.

According to msnbc.com, a small but symbolic protest by victims of sex abuse by priests in the Catholic Church was obstructed on Monday, April 10 when police escorted one of the organizers off St. Peter's Square before she could distribute fliers. Barbara Blaine, founder of the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests, was put behind barricades set up at the entrance to the square.

Pierce scholars are awarded

Cabrini College announced its 2004-2005 scholarship recipients on March 21, 2005. Among the recipients was Claudia Sciandra a junior accounting and finance major, of Smithtown, N.Y. Sciandra is one of four students who received the honor of being named a Pierce Scholar.

Obsessing over celebrity’s lives

Today our society is more than ever fascinated with the lives of celebrities. We want to know everything about them. Anything from who they are dating to what cereal they eat for breakfast in the morning. Most of us are all suckers for the tabloids. We can not help ourselves from picking up the latest issue of In Touch Weekly or Star magazine in the check out line at the grocery store.

Protecting right to life

The Terri Schiavo case has caused quite a debate across the Untied States over the past couple of months. Who should decide when someone's life should end? Does there reach a point in someone's mental state where his or her life has no value? Who speaks for the unspoken, do they have a voice? These are all the questions debated upon between the Schiavo supporters and non-supporters.

Senator honored with Ivy Young Willis Award

Pennsylvania State Sen. Connie Williams was honored with the 2005 Ivy Young Willis Award. President Iadarola introduced and presented Williams with this award on March 17 before a diverse audience of Cabrini students, faculty, and members of the community.

Students to benefit from intramurals

Orlin Jespersen was hired in Oct. 2004 as the Director of Intramurals and Recreation. He is the first staff member to truly dedicate himself to the intramurals program at Cabrini College. With his primary focus on the students and giving them a variety of sports and activities to participate in, he is also a firm believer that students can benefit from playing intramurals in college.

Brad, Jen break-up causes curiosity

When news broke that Hollywood's hottest couple, Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston had formally split I was shocked. This was a celebrity couple that many people around the world were cheering for. Besides being absolutely beautiful, both Aniston and Pitt were well respected people in Hollywood.
