Post-partum depression, commonly known as PPD, is a disorder that can leave women in a severe melancholy state after giving birth, affecting one in eight new mothers. It is a disorder that is affecting a large percentage of women but do we, as a society, understand PPD and what it entails? Society has seen its fatal affects of Villanova's Mine Ener, the controversy it causes with celebrities such as Tom Cruise and Brook Shields and new laws have been created to increase awareness this past year - but what is it that we are missing? Journey into a different country

"Would you like some peanuts?" the flight attendant asks as you fidget in your not-so-comfortable airplane seat. You look out the window to try to set your mind at ease and calm your anxiety-driven thoughts about the journey you are soon to begin. After a long and tedious eight-hour flight, the plane has landed, and as you walk down the narrow aisle to exit, all of the nervousness and doubt that you tried so hard to overcome has flushed back into your mind.

The adventures of the flat-tire fluke

It was a sunny yet windy day on a Monday morning. The sun was glaring off of the freshly snow-coated trees while the cars on the Pennsylvania Turnpike became freshly salt-coated from the roads. Everyone was bundled up in their cars, full-blasting the heat in an attempt to thaw out their cold-nipped fingers hugging the steering wheel.

Spring Fling Go Hawaiian 2006

With expectations running high, this year's Spring Fling, April 8, 2006, is underway. Are you ready? "Every year we have a different theme. This year it will be Hawaiian," Caitlin Scott, junior marketing major, said. Scott is a member of the CAP Board and director of Spring Fling.

Billy Joel: Sing us a song ‘Piano Man’

Billy Joel fans yearned for more by screaming his name after he finished the last symphony of the night, 'Piano Man.' As he ran off the stage, the audience began piling out of the concert, still singing along to the aftertaste that Billy Joel's last performance left in each of our mouths.

From kindergarten to college years, students have had their fair share of teachers. There were the mean ones, the nice ones, the funny ones and the "I-just-can't-remember-your-name" ones. But what about the professors and teachers who leave lasting impressions on the hearts and minds of many? Out of all the teachers students have had throughout the years, there's always that one teacher who students can lean-on for academic assistance, life-long advice and a quality education.

Math + English = success!

Imagine taking a math course where your problem-solving skills were equally important as your writing skills. Imagine sitting at your desk every day and having to express yourself through words instead of numbers in your daily math journal. Writing? In math class? What gives? Megan Clementi, adjunct math professor at Cabrini, has learned throughout her years the importance of writing and the benefits it brings to students.

Concert review: Rob Thomas

The lights dimmed, the music started and the audience began screaming with anxiety. Rob Thomas took the stage and the crowd went wild. "What's up Philllllllaaaay?" he asked as he grabbed the microphone with one hand. Even though the theatre was relatively small and intimate, the love and excitement could have filled thousands of football fields and then some.

Testing your knowledge: exams or projects?

A student sits in their seat with their eyes on the clock, dreadfully anticipating the second hand to strike 11. "OK folks, it's 11:00. Time to begin the exam," the teacher says without one strand of nervousness. As the teacher calmly hands out the tests, row by row, you wonder if anyone else is as nervous as you are and the doubts begin to flow in.

What’s cookin’ in the cafeteria

As the students rolled-in and the atmosphere of Cabrini started to liven up once again for the fall semester of 2005, new changes and moderations on campus kicked-in and are being noticed by the student body. Many of these changes involve the cafeteria, including more than just a newly painted dining facility.
