Oct. 3 1951 The San Francisco Giants and Brooklyn Dodgers were tied for the pennant. they would settle the tie in a three game playoff. The teams split the first two games. The third game came down to one pitchby Don Newcombe. On an 0-1 count, Bobby Thomson won the game with a three run home run.

Way back when… May 18, 1946

Reginald "Reggie" Martinez Jackson, born on May 18, 1946, Wyncote, Pa., got the nickname "Mr. October" for his record made in World Series games played with the New York Yankees and California Angels. He was the first player to accumulate 10 home runs in 27 Fall Classic games.

Tennis team brings home another win

The women's tennis team beat Chestnut Hill College 8-1 on Sept. 23, making the overall record 8-1. The women are undefeated in the PAC. "There are no bad qualities in this team, only good ones. We are great friends and we have a lot of fun on and off the court," Carrie Kaussman, who played singles number five, said.

SAC requirement for athletic department

Collegiate athletes have their own affiliation called the Student Athletic Committee, which is based on a three fold focus: standing up for the rights and needs of athletes, getting involved with campus activities and working on volunteer duties in the community.

Pep band coming soon to Cabrini

Dr. Adeline Bethany, chair of the fine arts department, was informed of a student interest in forming a pep band to play at school games. However, there is one problem, no one knows who these students are. A pep band is a small group that plays music to energize and excite the crowd.
