Phillies Phever

Baseball fans live their entire lives idolizing guys like Babe Ruth or Joe DiMaggio, and watching postseason promos filled with the best playoff moments of all time. Kirk Gibson limping around the bases after a two-run walkoff homer in the '88 World Series, Toronto's Joe Carter and his winning bomb off Mitch Williams in '93 and Don Larsen's perfect game as a Yankee in '56.

PAC unveils new name

With the start of the 2008 fall sports season comes a new name for the conference. As of July 1, the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference is now known as the Colonial States Athletic Conference. "The new name recognizes that we have member schools that are not in Pennsylvania," Amy J.

Giving his best ‘shot’; The almost olympian

Seemingly at ease, Jon Kalnas sits, with his feet up in his recliner as he tunes into a primetime Olympic special. After 11 straight months of training, he finally enjoys a night at his parents' house in his hometown. But one could sense that he wished he would be in China, competing, rather than in New Jersey, watching.

Golf wins PAC championship; Lawler wins individual honors

It was a sigh of relief for Tim Harner and the men's golf team on Sunday April 27. The Pennsylvania Athletic Conference Championships, held at Center Valley Golf Club in Allentown, Pa. came down to a shootout between Cabrini and Neumann College. When all of the smoke cleared, the Cavaliers were victorious, finishing with a combined score of 635, nine strokes less than the pre-season favorite Neumann Knights.

Baseball club drops final home series

The baseball club did not fair well this past weekend, dropping all three games of their weekend series at home to Hofstra University on April 19 and 20. The series was the final three home games of the year for the club. Two of the games were only lost by one run, including a shutout on Sunday, April 20.

It’s all ‘April showers’ for the Phillies

Not many Philadelphia Phillies fans are going to forget how last season ended any time soon. Every time I need to be reminded of the incredible September, I just look at the National League East Champions pennant hanging above my bed. Oh, what a September it was.

Runners earn 5 top 5 finishes at Moravian; look forward to Penn Relay opportunities

The conditions were "hot as Hades," at the Greyhound Invitational, held at Moravian College. But that didn't stop the women's track team from earning five top five finishes on Saturday, April 19. Leading the way once again was senior star Lauren Deas, who earned her first gold medal of the outdoor season in the 100-meter dash.

Let’s talk about SEX, baby

I recall a night during my freshman year, where I woke up to my third roommate's bed shaking and the sound of clothing slipping off. I was afraid to open my eyes and I shuddered at the thought of what I would see if I did. Sure enough, he was drunk and with some chick that I had never met before.

Pitching highlights softball’s victory

A win of 2-1 before a loss of the same score is how the women's softball team fared against Cedar Crest College on saturday, April 12. The win was highlighted by some great pitching. Even the loss was not without a few fireworks, mainly Susan Schmidt's homerun as Cabrini tried to mount a comeback late in the game.

5 track members place in Top 10; Deas reaches for NCAA championship

Senior Lauren Deas spoke on behalf of her fellow women's track and field athletes when asked how the College of New Jersey Invitational meet went on Saturday, April 12. "It is still early in the season." Head coach James Williams agreed with his senior runner.

Flyers ticket prices to increase next season

Boy, is it a good thing that those Philadelphia Flyers got into the playoffs this year. I've got a bone to pick with them. It is fairly common knowledge that going to a Flyers game means you are going to dish out quite a lot of money. It is one of, if not, the most expensive ticket for a sporting event in town, which is unlucky for me because it is my favorite to attend as well.
