Recycling program ignored

While Pennsylvania continues to be one of the top producers in the recycling industry, according to the National Recycling Coalition, Cabrini is still having problems with the community members recycling. Howard Holden, director of facilities, said the college has a recycling program that is available to all faculty, staff and students.

Women’s soccer wins two straight

Jackie Freese editor in chief JMF722@cabrini.edu The women's soccer team won its first two games outside the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference with a 2-0 win over St. Mary's College in Maryland on Saturday, Sept. 6 and a 4-0 win over Bryn Mawr College on Tuesday, Sept.

Student attacked, robbed in Wayne

Junior Ryan Norris touches the sling on his right arm gingerly with his mangled left hand. He slips the sling off and reveals the scrapes and bruises that cover his skin. "The hospital told me that my muscles are very bruised," Norris, an English/communications major, said.

Colfer: PAC coach of the year

Taking a quick glance, Steve Colfer's office does not seem different than any of the others in Cabrini's admission's office. His desk is full of files of prospective Cabrini students, he has numerous catalogs and pamphlets about the college, and he has chairs and couches for students and parents to sit on.

Rooms tight, freshmen coping

Rebecca Clark sits at her desk in Xavier Hall scanning the room with her eyes. To her right are two bunk beds, across the room is a lofted bed with a desk under it, and to her left are two closets. Between the closets is a large dresser for her third roommate to put clothes in, since the room was originally meant to be a double.

Cavaliers breeze by the Cougars

Frustration. The word rang in College Misericordia's ears on Saturday, April 4, as the Cabrini men's lacrosse team defeated the Cougar's 23-4. Throughout the entire first quarter and almost the entire second quarter, the Cavaliers did not allow the Cougar's a shot on goal.

Men’s Lacrosse dominates over Neumann 18-5

As gray clouds hovered over the field at Neumann College and raindrops started sprinkling down, junior attack Sean Gracey saw his mark. Gracey, a junior hailing from Philadelphia, came off the bench for injured attack Mike Piccoli and scored five goals in the men's lacrosse game against Neumann College on Wednesday, March 26 as Cabrini defeated Neumann 18-5.

Sacrifice teaches more than bargained for

I never knew how controlling salt could be. For the Lenten season this year, I gave up sprinkling salt on food items. Every year I try and give up something that I know will be hard because I do not see a point in giving up something that will be easy to let go.

Men’s team 1-1 for week; anticipating win against Marymount University

Going from one extreme to another is not an easy transition, but Cabrini's men's lacrosse team has handled it well. On Wednesday, March 19, the Cavaliers trounced DeSales University on the Bulldogs turf 19-3. However, the Cavaliers were dealt a blow on Sunday, March 23, when Ohio Wesleyan, the tenth ranked team in the nation, defeated Cabrini 19-7.

Men’s lacrosse 2-0 in North Carolina

With only Wal-Mart and Playstation to keep them occupied, the men's lacrosse team had plenty of time to fine-tune its game over spring break in North Carolina. The team came out victorious in both of its meetings with a score of 8-7 on Wednesday, March 5 against Wingate University and a score of 8-4 on Saturday, March 8 against Greensboro College.

Institutions ensure safety for students abroad

With last month's terrorist attack in Spain, study abroad programs in high schools and colleges are being revamped and extra precaution is being taken to ensure the safety of the students. With approximately 50 students going abroad next year, Cabrini is no exception to the recent trend concerning the safety of its students abroad.

Roller hockey wraps up season

The Cabrini men's roller hockey team's playoff run ended with a 6-4 loss to Temple University on Saturday, April 3, and an 8-0 loss to West Chester University on Sunday, April 4. Despite the losses and the end of its season, the team looks forward to next year.

Scramble for housing

When it was time to pull numbers for the housing lottery, I pulled 496. The starting number for my class was 492, so I got lucky, very lucky. So lucky, in fact, that I am one of very few current juniors going to be living on campus next year. Something's rotten at Cabrini.

Roller hockey drops to seventh place in division

At 8:05 in the second period of the Cabrini and Drexel University men's roller hockey game on Sunday, Feb. 22, the Cavs were trailing 5-1, with Drexel scoring three goals in less than four minutes. Junior captain Dave Arnold called a timeout and decided it was time to regroup.

The controversy of the one-sided media

The big news story this week was the release of Mel Gibson's "The Passion of the Christ." The controversy surrounding the movie has been the "is it Anti-Semitic or isn't it" argument. It's a well-known fact that Gibson's father belongs to a conservative Catholic sect that has denied the Holocaust happened.

People losing their culture and parish

I know what it is like to see something that is part of your culture be thrown away like it is trash. I feel for the people of Holy Trinity Parish in Pottstown, Pa., I really do. Holy Trinity is a small parish in the south end of Pottstown, my hometown. It was built by Slovak immigrants 91 years ago and has stood on the same spot ever since.

The beginning of the end: The final movie of the Lord of the Rings Trilogy

It is finally here. The third installment of arguably one of the most famous and profitable movie trilogies of all time will come to theaters on Wednesday, Dec. 17 -"The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King." There is a certain stigma attached to the Rings' movies, like there is to the Star Wars and Harry Potter movies.

Fight for freedom of information

I'm not one to be really big on the Constitution. I know my basic rights as a U.S. citizen and I know what I can and cannot do as a Pennsylvania citizen. It's a shame the Radnor Police Department does not. When something so significant happens on campus that the police are called, the Loquitur staff immediately looks into it; what has been happening with the crime on campus is an example of this.

Get involved, be prepared

Yogurt lids, wine bottles, baked goods, beer and soda tabs and jewelry. What do these very different items have in common? They are being bought or collected to help for a good cause. Breast cancer October is National Breast Cancer awareness month. There are many different things college students can do to help promote awareness breast cancer.

Shocked by stupidity

It was Thursday, Oct. 9, and I was enjoying a nice evening with my roommate and next door neighbor. We did our thing, had our fun, and went to bed. A nice time was had by all. As I was falling asleep to "Fellowship of the Ring," I heard laughter outside. This is not unusual for a Thursday night at House 5; there's usually good fun going on outside after the parties die down.
