The college has appointed Dr. Anne Skleder as Cabrini's provost and vice president for academic affairs.

Dr. Peter Heckman is one of two candidates under consideration to fill the role of vice president and provost.

This year, Founder’s Day keynote speakers were Cabrini faculty, staff and students.

The national search for Cabrini's next provost and vice president for academic affairs has been extended. An agreement could not be reached between the college and its fi rst choice for the position. Dr. Marie A. George, Cabrini College President, made the announcement to the community on Thursday, Feb.

To submerge themselves within the Mayan culture, motivated Cabrini students to travel to Guatemala. Their assumption that the trip would focus on touring the surrounding area, however, was incorrect. "I didn't know I signed up to carry boulders," Michelle Costa, sophomore communication major, said, with humor in her voice.

Strategic planning along with diversity are two key areas of accomplishment for vice president provost candidate Dr. Kenneth J. Porada. Specifically, Porada has implemented new academic programs that have helped identify new areas of identity for his university.

Cabrini final exams to begin on Dec. 7 Cabrini's final exams will take place the week of Dec. 7 to 11. A full schedule is posted online at www.cabrini.edu/Finals. Monday, Dec. 7 will also be the last day that students can declare Pass/Fail. For more information students should contact the Registrar.

We should not let illusions manipulate our views on life. When we do, it negatively impacts our well-being and general happiness. This was the main argument of this year's Cabrini Day keynote speaker. "There is this illusion that happiness comes from stuff," Andrew Abela, associate professor marketing and chair-elect of the Department of Business and Economics at the Catholic University of America, said.

The Cabrini College Mansion has served as the iconic representation of the College for 50 years. Its distinct architectural design has been recognized not only for the College itself, but also for the nation. Recently, the Woodcrest Estate Mansion was named to the National Register of Historic Places, which includes the nation's most famous buildings.

A House-passed bill could provide additional unemployment compensation and extend benefits by 13 weeks. The bill is now pending in the Senate and causing debate. The Emergency Unemployment Compensation Extension Act of 2009 was drafted with the intent of providing relief to the 15 million jobless Americans.
