Is working many hours while in college worth it or stressful? “Having a job while in college is a good way to manage time and to have money to be able to buy things,” said political science major student. Some people, unfortunately, have to work in order to pay their living expenses, tuition, and entertainment because they may not have the parental support to help them out.

“I work two jobs as a full-time college student and I’m always stressed”, says political science major Melissa Warns.

“ I work while in college because I have to! My parents didn’t want to pay for anything because they wanted me to be a part of the military. So I had to go and get a job in order to get that extra money to pay for education. I needed to pay a balance of nearly $750 a month. I barely have time to have normal socializing life. I’m stressed but I gotta do what I have to do. Trust and believe it can be done because I’m doing it.”

Student Terri Duty, mathematics major, says working while in college is actual fun. “I actually enjoy working while in school. I mean, I’ve been working since high school so I’m used to handling school and work. I like it because it teaches me how to manage my time better. I learned how to make schedules to help my life so much easier. I think everyone should work while college to have some cash. So you won’t have to do strange things for a piece of change,” Terri Dutly said.

An undeclared major student John Davenport, suggests working while college creates more stress! “ I believe that scholars shouldn’t work while in college. It creates stress because people might not be able to take working while in college. I’ve tried it before and I was too stressed out. It took time away from my studies, which lead to very poor grades. I’d rather work during the winter and summer breaks because boredom strikes me down. Otherwise, my parents pretty much supply me of my needs,” John Davenport said.

Everyone’s story is different and unique. Students who do work have more skills in time management and organization. Some students may work while in college to pay for tuition due to their personal situations. Some just work for extra money and to be able to go out for entertainment. Regardless of what the situation is, it’s without a doubt that working many hours at a job; shows time management which is a crucial key to be used in the real world.
