Walking in you would have believed that the famous Vanessa Carlton was performing in Jazzman’s café. To your surprise it was the striking vocals of Joanna Burns.
Her goal was to “move her audience” and move them was exactly what she did. Students clapped along as she belted out a mixture of songs while playing her keyboard on Tuesday, March 9. It was all anyone could do but to stop and listen.
Working for the National Association for Campus Activities, Burns travels to colleges throughout the Tristate area.

Planning on traveling to more than 30 colleges this semester, the New Jersey resident seems to enjoy the college scene. Students, being much more open, love listening as she plays a mixture of her own music as well as some of the more popular songs out today.
“She’s very talented and keeps the audience listening with her quirky sense of humor,” Kevin Di Gioia, sophomore business major, said.
