The Cabrini women's soccer team opened their 2009 season on Tuesday, Sept. 1, with a huge win over Centennial Conference opponent Franklin & Marshall College. This is the first time in the program's history that they came out on the victorious end against F&M.

Playing soccer since before he can remember, history and political science major, Brian Moran is looking for a back-to-back CSAC championship in his senior season. Moran began playing soccer with his hometown team of Aston and then moved onto a more competitive select team, Riverplate United, out of Ridley, Pa.

The Cabrini field hockey team suffered their first loss of the 2009 season on the Edith Robb Dixon field, Tuesday night against No. 10 Rowan University. The final score was 4-0 but junior goalkeeper Caitlin Donahue, captured 26 saves in the cage for the Cavaliers.

The Cabrini womens' soccer team returned to the turf on Tuesday, Aug. 18 for the first day of preseason behind head coach Ken Prothero in his eighth season leading the Cavs. Memories from last season's heartbreaking loss to Marywood University in the semifinal round of the Colonial Athletic Conference still linger in the back of many of the returning players' heads.

The Cabrini volleyball team returned to the Nerney Field House on Aug. 18 behind head coach Eric Schaefer to prepare for the 2009 season. This is the second season, for head coach Schaefer. In his first season Schaefer and the team appeared in two championship matches.

Cabrini College named Kate Pearson head womens' basketball coach. Pearson took over on July 1 after serving as the Cavaliers assistant coach for the past five seasons. Pearson becomes head coach after the Cavaliers have won back-to-back Colonial States Athletic Conference titles and has advanced to two straight NCAA Tournaments.

The Cabrini women's lacrosse team came out on the losing end to conference rival Gwynedd-Mercy on Saturday, April 18. The loss was the second biggest upset in the nation this year, according to LAXpower.com. "After being on a four-game winning steak we went into Saturday's game over confident and not giving them enough respect.

Eight points shy of becoming just the third Cabrini men's lacrosse player to reach the 200-point plateau, junior business administration major Casey Grugan looks to lead his team as far as possible in the post season, and try to capture a national championship.
