Walking through the Widener Center has become a new experience for students this year. It is no longer a dark building with a bunch of offices, but a place where students gather to enhance their artistic abilities. Widener is now a bright building that welcomes students.

Cabrini's Circle K club traveled to Pittsburgh for the Circle K District Convention recently. The convention was a meeting point for all of the Circle K clubs in Pennsylvania. During the weekend, participants got the opportunity to attend meetings and workshops.

A familiar face on Cabrini's campus Dr. Rachel Back, who read her poetry to the students earlier this semester, is back at her home in the north of Israel, in the Galilee. Over the past few months Americans have been hearing about the numerous suicide bombings that have been occurring on the nearly daily basis.

Colleges are experiencing sticker shock over recent the price changes by two of the leading providers of course-management software. Blackboard and WebCT, the two leading providers of course-management software, are raising their prices. Until recently, colleges had to pay a few thousand dollars a year, but now they are being charged tens and sometimes hundreds of thousands of dollars for the systems.

In the beginning of the 2001-2002 school year there was a lot of publicity about a new club at Cabrini called Circle K. Over the past few months most of that talk has died down. What has the club done during the fall semester and what do they plan to do in the future? The president of Circle K, Jesse Gluckman, had the idea to start the club.

Most college students must take out loans to pay for their education. Therefore students should have some sort of investments to help them pay off their loans or even help them in the distant future. College students today are living in a world where a college education is both necessary and extremely expensive.

February is Black History Month. Cabrini does not only celebrate the history of African Americans, but it celebrates the history of many races. According to Shirley Dixon, director of diversity initiatives, Black History Month began because black society wanted to make sure that the history of black America was being taught and heard.

There are plans to break ground on the new Science, Education and Technology building in 2003. The new building will be connected to the east side of Founder's Hall. The college plans to break ground in the spring of 2003 and open in the fall of 2004. The cost of the building has not been released.
