Honors student, theater diva, student ambassador, leader.

All these things don’t even begin to scratch the surface of Samantha Murray.

She is a history and English double major with a minor in political science. She has also worked her way through the Honors Program and became the Honors Program intern for Admissions.

“I’m a classroom coach and writing center tutor, resident of the honors council and board member for Alpha Psi Omega. I was also one of the orientation coordinators for the class of 2020,” she said.

Murray finds herself keeping busy on campus being involved in both the fall play and spring musical. Her more recent roles on the stage have been Muddy in “Tintinnabulations” and Paulette in “Legally Blonde.”

After receiving an email that told her that she was eligible to apply for the Who’s Who Among American Colleges and Universities Award, Murray jumped at the chance to apply for the honor.

“It required me to fill out an application, submit a list of activities I’ve been a part of at Cabrini, and a letter of recommendation,” she said.

After two long months of waiting Murray was sent an email telling her the great news. She was one of 15 recipients at Cabrini.

“I was ecstatic. One of my best friends texted me because she got it too,” Murray said. “I remember shopping for the theatre and called my mom as soon as I could-she even started to cry! It was one of those moments that made me once again see how blessed I was that I chose to come to Cabrini.”

Murray now feels that as her time at Cabrini comes to a close her mark on the school will remain.

“I feel like I’ve somehow made an influence in Cabrini’s community through everything I’ve been involved in, and this award is a testament to my hard work and dedication,” she said.

Not only was Murray overwhelmed with joy about being recognized, but her family was as well.

“My mom cried. My dad was also really excited when I told him later that night,” she said. “They were the ones who pushed me to go to Cabrini in the first place, so in a way I owe this award to them.”

Murray will be receiving her award during a ceremony on May 20th.
