Jill Nawoyski is a Washington Township, N.J., native and senior communication major with a marketing minor being recognized for the level of excellence she has achieved in her years at Cabrini. The “Who’s Who” awards are given to those seniors whose accomplishments and contributions reflect the University’s commitment to service.
This award is given out by Academic Affairs and Student Life to recognize students who demonstrate excellence and Nawoyski qualified. This in an honor that touches many individuals every year and it means so much to Nawoyski. In order to qualify for this recognition, students are recommended to the Selection Committee by a member of the faculty of administrative staff.
“I’ve met so many people at Cabrini who have helped me and have impacted my life,” Nawoyski said. “I wouldn’t change my college experience for anything.
This award is only the tip of the iceberg that is the list of accolades that Nawoyski has received over her four years at Cabrini. A student ambassador, student government member, editor-in-chief of the Loquitur, co-sports anchor for Loqation and president of the society for collegiate journalists are some of the areas she has been involved in.
Communications has been Jill’s passion since she was a freshman year in high school, which is different than some people that who figure it out at some point over their college career. When a person finds what the love to do, not many things will stop them from reaching their goals and that holds true here.
When she stepped on Cabrini’s campus, she felt an immediate sense of passion and she felt that she belonged. Being a firm believer of keeping busy, her time at Cabrini has been full of great memories and eye-opening experiences.
“Everyone has been so supportive with making sure that I have met every goal that I’ve had throughout college whether it is being on president’s list or getting an internship,” Nawoyski said.
To add on top of Nawoyski’s recent award, she has received an alumni scholarship, Comcast scholarship, multiple semesters of president’s and dean’s list, national leadership honor society and the society for collegiate journalists. This impressive set of accolades speaks directly to the excellence that has been demonstrated by this individual.
Jill expressed words of thanks to her advisor, Dr. Jerry Zurek, for all he has done for her and for the time he has dedicated over the years for every student he advises. After explaining that the 4 years have gone so fast, Nawoyski explained that she loves Cabrini more than anything and graduating is going to something that will be very difficult.
Being recognized for something that students push themselves to their limits is a very humbling experience and can ultimately shape a person’s outlook on life.
“If I could give anyone advice, it’s to take every opportunity given to you and be present in every moment,” Nawoyski said. “Always stay true to who you are, be passionate towards all that you do and everything will fall into place from there.”
