People typically go through life taking regular classes for their academic career or job, but did you know there are students just like us who want to take a more zanier route in life?

Here are the top five wackiest classes students take for fun.

1.) Juggling

If someone gave you three balls and told you to juggle them continuously, could you do it? How about five? Eight maybe? Well, you should not feel inadequate about not being able to juggle… Unless you are Robert Masso. “I’ve been juggling since high school. It started just out of boredom, I wasn’t really inspired by clowns or anything; juggling was just something I was naturally good at,” Masso, a student who is taking off from school between high school and college, said. Juggling was not really something Masso planned on making a hobby his entire life. However, that did not mean he did not enjoy what he does. “I joined the Philadelphia Jugglers Club. It’s really fun— that is if you know how to juggle,” Masso said.

2.) Cooking Class

This class may not be as crazy as juggling but the master chef is. Alexandria Brookes, an aspiring chef, recalls hiring a personal chef to teach Alexandria all her techniques and recipes, but there was just one problem. “My former cooking teacher was French, very French and had a bad temper,” freshman Alexandria Brookes said. “She spoke way too fast, and when she got frustrated she would stab the cutting board with a knife and go outside for a smoke break and tell me to ‘figure it out on my own.’ We fired her after my mom had enough of the cigarette butts out on the back deck,” Brookes said.

3.) Improv

‘Yes, and…’. Most of you already know where this is heading but improvisation class, a.k.a improv classes, can be strange in itself. Lexi Kline, a junior at the University of Arts, took some improv classes herself and they were “delightfully strange,” according to Kline. “You would think improvisation is hard, and you’d be right,” Kline said. “It’s hard to think on your feet but it helps with your creative flow. I took improv because one of my closest friends took the class as well and I fell in love with it.”

4.) Interpretive Dance

Brook Jensen, is a student who aspires to be Philadelphia’s best dancer. But along the way, she took one class that will always stick with her. “My interpretive dance class was weird. I had to take it one summer for this dance boot camp but I didn’t sign up for it. I was just assigned to it randomly. I didn’t like it that much. The teacher was too strict and I hated my performance costume,” Jensen, an advanced hip-hop dancer, said. “On top of that, the music was really awkward. I would never do that again.”

5.) Religion

“Once, I had a very passionate religion teacher who was so laid back he actually got in trouble for skipping too many lectures,” Frank McLaughlin, computer science major at Community College of Pennsylvania, said. “Sometimes I would show up and he wouldn’t even be there. And one time, he gave us an assignment to ‘find ourselves’ and write a three-page paper on the journey,” McLaughlin said. “Religious classes are supposed to be fun, but it wasn’t since we hardly had class,” McLaughlin said.

There are a lot of weird professors and classes out there but would you take up a weird class or an unusual hobby for fun?
