Dr. Timothy Mantz has been selected to be the next dean of the Business, Arts, and Media school at Cabrini. Mantz is currently the Dean of the School of Business at Northern State University. Mantz shared a vision in his on-campus visit during the selection process of what he would do if he got the job here at Cabrini.

He said a decision would never be made by just him. Mantz said he would gather all the assets there is to offer, including faculty, students, janitors, workers, whoever could give him insight would have a say in the decisions. Mantz wants to know where Cabrini is different and could excel past similar schools in the area. How can Cabrini be different than all the other local schools?

Mantz plans to do a lot of with driving Cabrini to make student’s experience here exceptional. Some ideas were new course names, have professionals come into class, having class in a professional setting of an office, co-op programs and faculty-led travel programs. Mantz had a larger idea of partnering with businesses to get these opportunities of having class in their office or them coming into class to talk to the students.

The idea of building relationships was a key aspect of Mantz’s vision for Cabrini. The impact of the community around Cabrini was also another piece of Mant’z vision. He discussed community service, more involvement with local high schools, food drives, blood drives and more on-campus events the community can get involved with. Mantz wants students to have a flexible mindset instead of limiting student’s potential in the classroom.

For example, have marketing students take art classes and vice versa was an idea he had. Mantz’s vision is one of building relationships and getting students out of their comfort zone. He wants to make students at Cabrini have a great college experience outside the classroom in a professional environment.
