The Philadelphia 76er’s win over the Milwaukee Bucks was a huge one for the team and was no small feat. With the win against the Milwaukee Bucks Sunday, March 17, things seem to be looking up for the Sixers this year.

“It’s been a fun few years watching Philadelphia sports,” Abi Fricke, a sophomore on the women’s basketball team here at Cabrini University. “So the fact that the Sixers have clinched a playoff birth is exciting! Especially because they did it by beating the team with the best record throughout the NBA.”

The win has many people in the Philadelphia area teeming with excitement, with hopes held high with some responsibility for these hopes due the successes of Joel Embiid as of late.

“If the Sixers are going to make a deep run in the playoffs I think this is the year to do it,” Jack Sanders, a senior secondary education major, said. “The starters carry most of the production so if they get enough help from off the bench I think they have a good chance at going far. Embiid is absolutely one of the best players in the NBA right now and if he stays healthy and if they close out games as a team the Sixers could be the dominant team in the East.”

Although this win was big for the Sixers some fans are still skeptical about the outcome for the rest of this season. Rightfully so, according to one student.

“Last game was very telling for the Sixers,” Brandon Dukes, a junior history major, said. “Because the Hawks are bottom five in the league this season, and the loss should show the Sixers they can’t just put in half the effort and still win. For them to have a chance in the playoffs against the Raptors or the Celtics they need to play for a full 48 minutes. If they can do that, their talent level should be able to overcome any team in the Eastern conference, making the Finals a realistic ending for the Sixers this year.”

In other news there was another shocking event that occurred at the Sixers game that has people talking, and no it wasn’t the plays. In fact it was the surprising occurrence of Mike Scott falling into the stands to go after a ball.

The interesting part isn’t in the fall but more so the part where as he got up he took a sip from a fan’s drink and jumped right back into the game.
