The competition for coffee continues

So many people in the world love coffee, especially college students. At Cabrini, students can get coffee at Jazzman’s Cafe or in the cafeteria. There is also the option of driving off campus for students who have a car with them. The most common places they go to get coffee off campus are Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts. So which coffee is better? Do students prefer to get their Venti coffee, or settle for the iced coffee at Dunkin? Recently, there has been a proven study that coffee brings students “life.” So many students say they drink coffee daily, sometimes even multiple times a day.

“I don’t really get coffee from Jazzman’s or the cafe that much,” junior, Kiley Sharp, said. “I’m not sure why, I guess I would rather use my flex on food. I just prefer the taste of Starbucks and Dunkin more. Dunkin is definitely my go-to and I know it’s most of my friends’ go-to as well.”

It seems that the coffee at Jazzman’s is not students’ first choice. People say that their coffee is usually bitter, and they question if there is even actually caffeine in their drinks.Tweet

“I don’t get the same boost I get from Dunkin’s coffee when I drink Jazzman’s coffee,” Alex Peterongolo said. “I don’t know why that is, but I just feel like there’s just more of a kick from the coffee stores off-campus.”

The price of coffee differs between Dunkin and Starbucks. Starbucks is higher priced than Dunkin.

“I feel as though coffee prices are slightly overpriced no matter where you go, but if I’m looking to get coffee I’d rather spend the money on Dunkin donuts,” junior, Shannon Fichter, said.

“I love Starbucks,” senior, Amber Warren, said. “It’s my go-to before I face a day at my internship. But, prices? That’s tough, I order different things from Starbucks. Overall, I prefer Starbucks because it’s good coffee [and] it’s something that I enjoy. My friends will more than likely agree.”

Traveling off campus proves to be no problem as well. Students are willing to go the extra mile to get their caffeine fix.

“I’ll go off campus for coffee maybe once or twice every other week,” Shannon Fichter said.

Students prefer brand names so much more than Jazzman’s that they are willing to drive to their coffee destination.

Dunkin seemed to be the favorite among Cavaliers. In a Twitter poll, out of 118 voters, 64 percent of them admitted to liking Dunkin Donuts’ coffee over Starbucks. Dunkin’s lower prices seemed to be the major deciding factor of where college students get their morning kick.
