As part of the Cabrini Day activities many students, athletic teams and faculty participated in a walk/run for social change. The event was called, “A Mile in Their Shoes.”
Over the past three years public safety has reported around 600 alcohol incident referrals. There have been 17 arrests on campus within the past three years.
Walking around campus, you may have noticed places you think should have recycling bins and don’t.
In recent years, there has been a great push to turn green in order to protect the environment. Various solutions have been made including hybrid cars, energy-efficient warehouses, compost heaps and even riding a bike. Why should recycling be so hard to do?
The Dixon Center was full of students, professors and faculty on Cabrini Day, all there to present or learn—some even both. This year’s theme was homelessness. With over 60 posters and presentations, the room with teeming with excited students ready to share their insights on topics including poverty, domestic violence and all kinds of social injustices.
Most college students share one major concern. Money.
Such is the case for students such as sophomore Vanessa Charlot who was originally given work study but had it taken out of her financial aid package.
Would you shy away? Give a dirty look? Stick out your hand and introduce yourself? Or would you ignore the situation all together, because why would you want to touch a dirty person, who does not have a house?
Raising awareness for cancer is taking on a new meaning.
On Saturday, Oct. 18 Philadelphia hosted the Making Strides”breast cancer event. Thousands of people from all over attended this event and Cabrini’s Delta Xi Phi chapter was there to participate.
The stigma surrounding LGBT was broken down to the audience about the issues that these people each day. Paige Walker facilitated the workshop. That is to go with doing her best to make those in the room comfortable and enjoy the discussion. It helped to get people to corporate when she asked if anyone had any questions?
Teaching future educators how to properly address domestic abuse among children is no easy task. A recent symposium discussed how to deal with children who are exposed to domestic abuse with education majors.
