In a close nit affair the Cabrini men’s lacrosse team headed to the Carrier Dome, in Syracuse, to take on No. 2 Rochester Institute of Technology.
The No. 5 ranked Cavaliers lost in the final minute of time to fall to 3-2 overall on the season, after a game where the team were only down on goals for less then 3 seconds.
This game saw goals scored by seniors Damien Sobieski, Tyler Johnston, Mike Leyden and sophomores Evan Downey and Ryan Hannan. Downey recorded a career day as he tallied 5 points on two goals and 3 assists.
The cavaliers opened up strong in the first period, with the period ending 3-1, as well as Johnston, Sobieski and Leyden netting their first goals.
While the blue and whites tallied 4 more
goals in the second on the clock.

with some vigor, also scoring 4 goals in the period to cut the half time lead to 7-5. Things looked good going in the second half as the Cavaliers hit back with a plethora of goals.
Sobieski and Downey both combined for 3 unassisted goals taking the score to 10-5 in the opening minutes of the second half, but celebrations were ceased when RIT hit back with 3 unanswered goals cutting the deficit to only 3 before the final period.
RIT scored a man- up goal to start the final period, while Johnston scored his final goal of the day making the score 11-9 with just minutes left in the game. It looked as though the blue and white were taking this home before, RIT showed the worth of their ranking scoring a flurry of three unanswered goals with less then 2 minutes left
intense and close from start to finish,” said Sophomore chemistry major Steve Halko,” The guys played well out there but we ended up losing the game in the final minutes. We will have to prepare well in thenextcoupledaysfor Salisbury.”
The cavaliers fought but came up short losing the battle 12-11. With No.12 Salisbury University, Stevenson University and Nazaerth Collegr on the horizon the Cavaliers need to get back, to there winning ways as they regroup for the rest of the season.
