Any aspiring freshman would enter a college with a lot of dreams in mind. Kaitlyn Cooper was no exception.
Cooper, a freshman transfer from Buena, N.J., has since brought her talents to Cabrini and has started to pursue those dreams.
Cooper came here with two sports on her mind: softball and soccer. She works extremely hard going to the gym sometimes twice a day just to keep herself in good shape for these activities.
“Sometimes I go to the gym before and after softball practice,” Cooper said.
Even though Cooper is a two-sport athlete, she prefers soccer over softball. A nice individual in person, on the soccer field it isn’t so nice. It is actually the opposite of how she is off the field.
She strives each and every day to better herself as an athlete whether it is working on endurance or strength training in the gym.
Balancing two sports plus getting an education isn’t the easiest thing to do in college, but Cooper is making it work.
During her spring break, the softball team took a trip to Myrtle Beach for a tournament, so Cooper and the team are having a good time there, despite the results of the game.
It has been a slow start for the softball team, who lost all five games in their spring training in Myrtle Beach. Cooper played in four of the five games, posting a .231 batting average, had two doubles and drove in a run. The shortstop did make two errors in the field but has otherwise been sure-handed as a fielder.
If she continues to work as hard as she has been working this semester who knows what great things will be in store for her in the future. Cooper has a lot of heart and potential, and works hard each and every day to get even the smallest amount closer to her goals.
