Many students grow up in different cultures than their roommates. It is common to think that certain things their roommates do are extremely strange.

Students experience differences when it comes to the way they sleep.

Some have common habits and others are just seem to be “crazy.”

“My roommate sleeps on top of her covers,” freshman, Nicolette Morroni said.

“He sleeps like a sloth,” sophomore, Luke Bencivenga said. “Easily 11 hours a day with at least one nap.”

Sometimes living with a roommate will cause experiencing some odd smells. It can be from particular lotions, perfumes, hair products, deodorant, etc. Those smells can also be coming from dirty laundry or possibly gasses.

“My roommate farts an unusual amount.” sophomore, Caroline Price said.

“I had a roommate that would leave all his dirty laundry in a unsurpassed mountain in the middle of the room.” sophomore, Kevin Blake said. “His mother would come to clean the room once a month.”

There is also random, funny or gross things about rommates that inevitably will be found out.

“Okay so my roommate wakes up every morning five minutes before class, throws a shirt on that doesn’t match, grabs his backpack and goes to class.” sophomore, Giorgio Courtis said.

Living with another student also shows how they adjust to weather changes.

“My roommate is always cold, like no matter what,” sophomore, Brittney Smith said. “She is always freezing.”

Sometimes, differences in hygienic practices will come into play when living with a roommate.

“My old roommate wouldn’t brush his teeth at night before he went to bed, only after eating breakfast in the morning,” senior, Ethan Heisman said.

In addition, roommates have a difficult time understanding each other’s fashion decisions.

“I have these pair of NBA socks that I don’t want to throw out, but they have holes in them so I wear another pair of socks under the ones with holes so I can still wear them,” senior, Jack Clendenning said. “My roommates think that’s weird for me to do. I think it’s weird that my roommate wears bath towel above his belly button.”

“One of my roommates never wears pants while in the room only boxers,” freshman, Andre Puleo said.

Even simple everyday tasks such as the order of getting ready differs from person to person.

“She actually does her hair and makeup before changing into her clothes that she is going to wear for the day,” junior, Jamie Rufo said.

“I shave and then shower but my one of my roommates doesn’t shave until after he takes a shower.” senior, Cole Campbell said.
