After fun, sun and a lot of hard work, Cabrini’s tennis team is back and ready for the upcoming season. Both the men and women’s teams spent seven days of their spring break in Hilton Head, S.C. with coaches Rich Aldrete and Scott Giblin.

Each day, both teams spent two to three hours practicing. While in Hilton Head the team also had the opportunity to spend time facing off with other college tennis teams. Cabrini had no match wins as a team, but there were many individual wins. Freshman Caitlin Scott said, “We mostly focused on getting our games in shape for the matches [in Hilton Head]. It was a lot of fun and a lot of tennis.”

Strength training has been incorporated into the men’s team practice schedule. They spend two to three days a week in the gym with a strength coach. Sophomore Jack Keller said, “the four matches helped [the teams] get ready for competition here.”

Hopes are high for both teams this year. “Our goal is to win PAC this year since we placed second this past season; we are in it [for the championship title] this time,” freshman Vikki Nicodemus said. “We are going to work as hard as we can to achieve a win. Next season looks great. We won’t be losing any players come graduation and will hopefully be gaining fresh new talent when the freshmen arrive in the fall,” Scott said. “We just have to concentrate on the next step- PAC,” Keller said. Practices are getting tougher and the drive to win the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference is on all of the players’ minds.

Nicodemus said, “Everyone played so well, we had fun and got to spend time together as a team.”
