(CABRINIATHLETICS) The cavaliers will make their 16th consecutive colonial states athletic conference championship game appearance.

On Saturday the Blue and White took to Edith Robb Dixon Field as the top seed and secured their spot in the CSAC Championship game with an 18-2 victory over Centenary College.

The Centenary Cyclones came out strong, scoring a goal in the first 99 seconds of the game. That only served to ignite a fire under the Cavaliers, who then scored three goals in the next 28 seconds.

Junior Ethan Heisman had a career game, leading the team with six goals and two assists.

Senior Tyler Johnston helped secure the win with four goals.

“I think we have a great shot at winning the championship, if we come out focused and with intensity,” Johnston said. “I think the leadership from our seniors and captains as well as the hard work we put on and off the field has gotten us to where we are right now.”

Both Heisman and Johnston had three goals apiece within the first 15 minutes of the game sending a strong message to the Cyclones.

Senior Mike Leyden tallied three goals and one assist while sophomore Evan Downey placed two goals and Junior Kyle Bush had a career high of three assists.

Faceoffs played a key role in the win over Centenary Cabrini won the first 20 of the game. Senior Anthony DiNenno went 11-11 on faceoffs in addition to five groundballs and Junior Chris Schneekloth went 9-9 on faceoffs.

Freshman goalkeeper Tyler Morrell had nine saves doing his job to protect the goal and help Cabrini come out on top over Centenary. Fellow rookie goalkeepers Jake Reynolds and Justin Bullivant also had a chance to defend the goal in the second half.

“I’m just fortunate to be able to compete in big games like this because this point of the season is the whole reason I play,” Morrell said.
