Who killed Steve?

When the lights flickered everyone knew something was going to happen. The question was whom would it happen to? When the lights came back on, Steve was on the floor. Dead. Who could have done such a thing? Why did they do it? What secrets led to his death? Was someone else next in line to die?

During CAP Board’s mystery dinner, these were the questions being asked. The mystery dinner was a murder mystery party. Everyone is assigned a role prior to getting to the dinner. CAP Board does so by asking those who signed up if they want a major role or minor role. They don’t know what is going to happen to their character until they arrive. The mission of the night was to try to figure out who killed Steve, why they did it and make as much money possible through blackmail.

The event started promptly at 7 p.m. in the mansion and there were approximately 15 people in attendance. A delicious dinner was served, with caesar salad, your choice of ziti or cheese tortellini with either red sauce or pesto sauce, meatballs and of course no one can forget the tiramisu for dessert.

The theme was a class reunion, Murder High Class Reunion. There’s clearly no better time to take revenge on those who may have made your high school years less than the best four years of your life. Throughout the night money, tips and clues were given and everyone had a reason for being at the reunion; and it wasn’t to simply catch-up with everyone.

CAP Board has been running the event for three years. Each year changing the theme. This year was a high school reunion while last year was the murder of a millionaire. Originally CAP Board brought in an outside company to help demonstrate and run things. Now they order a packet offline and create the event all on their own. There is plenty of time and effort that goes into the mystery dinner.

The hard work sure did pay off. “I thought the mystery dinner was great,” Conall Gallagher, the international student, said “I went into the event blind folded as I only signed up a short time before the event!”

The food was delicious; plenty of people helped themselves to a second plate. Everyone was into the role they were playing, even if it was a little out of their comfort zone. It was one of those events where it didn’t matter if you went alone, or with five of your best friends. Everyone has the chance to interact and have fun.

“It was fun being somebody else for a little bit of time. It was a good way to meet people, especially this being my first year on campus” Gallagher said “if I was still at Cabrini in the future I would love to do the mystery dinner again. It was great fun and very unique.”
