The Grammy’s are the one day when all the big current artists sit down and celebrate the best of 2015. There were many awards given such as album of the year, best new artist and so on.
Taylor swift’s fifth album “1989” won album of the year for her pop album. Swift also won best music video for her song “Bad Blood” which featured many other celebrities such as Selena Gomez. Ed Sheeran won song of the year for “Thinking Out Loud.” Bruno Mars’ “Uptown Funk” won record of the year. Meghan Trainer won best new artist. Little Big Town’s “Girl Crush” won best country song. There were more winners as the night went on but there was also many performances.
Justin Bieber performed “Love yourself” and “Where are you now.” John Legend, Meghan Trainer, Demi Lovato and others performed songs that were dedicated to Lionel Richie. Tori Kelly and James Bay teamed up to do a duet. Carrie Underwood and Sam Hunt sang together. The weeknd performed hit singles “Can’t Feel My Face” and “In The Night.”
The Weeknd’s Abel Tesfaye’s wore a tuxedo that James Bond would have worn. Taylor Swift did perform that night with her hit song “Out of the Woods.”
There were also some controversial moments that had happened during the Grammys. One being when Adele performed there were some technical issues. This made her performance sound glitchy. Adele took to twitter explaining why this happened.
Adele said, “The piano mics fell on to the piano strings, that’s what the guitar sound was. It made it sound out of tune.”
The other was when Swift gave her acceptance speech, she made a jab at Kanye West. Lastly, Kendrick Lamar performed in a jail cell for his opening act to send a powerful message.
Fashion is always a big theme as the celebrities walk the red carpet. Taylor Swift wore an outfit that looked like it was a 1950s pinup swimsuit (bandeau top, high-waisted bottoms) with a sweeping, slit-up-the front ball gown skirt in tangerine and fuchsia, courtesy of Atelier Versace.
Her best friend, Selena Gomez, had two different outfits. The first one was a metallic-blue Calvin Klein number with triangular cut-outs to show her waist. The second was a red Cushnie et Ochs gown with cut-outs, this one with peekaboo slits under the breasts, for her performance.
Adele also had slices in her dress to show off her shoulders. Ellie Goulding who took the carpet wore a pink Stella McCartney slip dress. Demi Lovato went on the tux route wearing a black-on-black version and a white-on-black version both with no shirt on but she had on a giant $2.4 million diamond necklace by Mouawad.
