“I love Elena,” junior Miranda Smith said. “She has been here for seven years and has shown us her love for Cabrini tennis.”
Before coaching with alumnus Sean Jaeger, Conway coached with her good friend Terra McHenry who graduated from Cabrini a year before Conway did. McHenry was an interim Conway’s senior year but stepped up when the previous head coach left for medical reasons.
They coached together for a year before McHenry left and that’s when coach Jaeger, head coach of the men’s tennis team since 2018, stepped up and became head coach of the women’s tennis team as well.
Aside from being an assistant coach, Conway currently works in Mt. Laurel, New Jersey for Freedom Mortgage.
“Elena is very busy,” Smith said, “but when she can be at practices, she is one of the most supportive people ever. She is always giving advice and always offering a solution for your next point in the match. She is all-around just a great person.”
During her first year of coaching, the women’s tennis team had six wins and nine losses overall, and in the conference, had five wins and five losses. This year, the team just ended their fall season with seven losses but captured a win against Penn State Berks.
