Friday, April 20th starts the first event of Cabrini College’s exciting Earth Week. The series of events beginswith movie night, showing “Wall-E” while enjoying some refreshments in the Widener Lecture Hall at 7:30p.m. In the spirit of the movie, all recyclables that are used during the movie will be brought to the college’s Recycle Tree and hung up to remind the campus to do their part.

What better way to continue Earth Week than with a service trip. On Saturday, Cabrini will be going to a Norristown Schuylkill River Trail Clean-Up and beautification event. The Cabrini vans will be departing at 8:30 a.m outside the Public Safety building to transport people from campus to the destination of clean up. The vans are scheduled to return to camps by noon. This is a great experience for anyone who is looking to help out during Earth Week. For more information on this service trip and to register contact Cindy Ross at or call 610-902-8540 or contact Rick Stetler at

Also on Saturday, from 11:30 a.m-1 p.m there will be an Earth Day’s Brunch in Cavs Corner, followed by the signing of the St. Francis Pledge by President George at 12:30 p.m. At 12:45 a campus-wide tree planning ceremony and dedication to Earth will be taking place in the commons.

On Sunday evening there will be a mass held at 7 p.m in the Bruckmann Memorial Chapel of St. Joseph.

Monday, April 23 will kick off with a meatless Monday in Cavs Corner. On Tuesday from 12-3 the Take Care Fair will be taking place in the commons. Students will then have the opportunity to contribute to the recycling tree and earn a prize. Students and faculty members will be given the chance to educate themselves on the importance of Earth Day and get free recyclable pens and post-it notes! There will also be an opportunity for participants to sign the St. Francis pledge.

Finally, on Friday, April 27 at 12:15 p.m, a Franklin Tree, Franklinia alatamaha, will be planted on the campus followed by an open discussion on tree planting.
