Eagles wrap up the end of the season

In the beginning of this season, the Philadelphia Eagles had high expectations because of last year’s Super Bowl victory. However, this team isn’t the same team as last year because of various injuries and free agents leaving. In the beginning of the season, the Eagles did not come in so hot as expected.

The Eagles had nine wins and seven loses during the regular season games. During the postseason game, they won against the Chicago Bears 16 to 15 and lost to the New Orleans Saints 20 to 14. This game against the Saints ended the Eagles for the season.

During the middle of the season, quarterback Carson Wentz suffered a knee injury. During the 2017 season quarterback Wentz also got injured in the legs during the same time around this season. This season, back-up quarterback Nick Foles took over for Wentz, again, while he recovers for his injuries.

When Foles took over, the Eagles started to play as they did in the 2017 season.

At that point in the season, Eagles fans were getting excited because they noticed a trend. The same thing that was going on as last year. With the Eagles getting more wins with Foles as their quarterback.

On Sunday, Jan. 13,  the Eagles played the second playoff game against the Saints. The Eagles came in strong with high hopes in the first and second quarters. During the game, the Eagles lost four players due to injuries. At the end of the game, the Saints came away with a victory which put an end to the Eagles this season.

Sophomore Kurt Schiehler said that the Eagles definitely did worse this season and thinks we could have done better.

“They were killing it last season!” Schiehler said.

Schiehler noticed that the Eagles perform better when the quarter back Wentz gets hurt. Schiehler is most looking forward to Wentz coming back next season.

“He can do much better when he is not hurt and has confidence.” Schiehler said.

Sophomore Mike Greatti thinks the Eagles did okay this season, due to the number of injuries this season. Greatti also noticed the trend what has happened this season with Wentz getting hurt around the same time as last season. What Greatti is most looking forward to next season is “hopefully winning the super bowl,” said Greatti.

Sophomore Kelly Schiehler thinks that the Eagles did well but, she thinks that they could have did a little bit better.

“They made it farther than we thought at the end.” Schiehler said.

Schiehler also mentioned that Foles always saved the team. What Schiehler is mostly looking forward to next season is to see where the Eagles are at and where if Foles ends up staying or leaving the team.
