Men’s basketball winning streak was almost cut short with a close win against Rosemont on Saturday, Feb. 1.
What a difference a week makes with the men’s Cavaliers coming back from the seasons largest deficit of the season. Six players assisted with eight or more points. A stand-out 14 point, four rebounds and assists performances was also made by junior Vinny Walls.
The win moved the Men to a 12-0 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference and a 18-0 overall record.
A team win indeed. With keys players out with injury, there wasn’t a missed opportunity for others to step up. Senior Jon Miller and contributed with 11 points and 3 monstrous blocks. The team shot over 50 percent from the field, with 11 of those points scored off of turn overs.
Despite the high offensive stats for the Cav’s the Rosemont Ravens pushed the tempo of the first half. With multiple lead changes, the Ravens flew on a 13-0 run with seconds left in the first half.
Three of the Ravens players contributed with ten plus points with little support from their bench who in total contributed 16 points, compared to the Cav’s bench who assisted with 32.
Even though the Ravens were able to match the score seven times, the Cavaliers were able to match everything they threw at them.
The men will continue their perfect season against Wesley at home, with the date and time still to be announced.
