On March 21, after a 13 day break, the Cabrini Cavaliers beat Valley Forge 17-7. This game leads the Cavs to a 6-4 record.
Scoring for the game started in the bottom of the second inning when both Casey Plunkett and Vince Gares scored, leading the Cavs to a 2-0 lead. Valley Forge scored one home run in the beginning of the third inning.
“I think I could have done a better job with throwing first pitch strikes and executing strikeout pitches,” said Jost Breittholz, junior pitcher.
In the bottom of the third, Dylan Butler had a fielder’s choice and there was a walk from Tyler Norris. Jake Dohar hit a two run RBI in the bottom of the third inning, also, which then led the Cavs to a 5-1 lead.
The bottom of the fifth inning was when the Cavaliers soared above Valley Forge gaining six runs off only three hits. Four walks and two game errors were to thank for the runs scored. The hits were by Michael Mescia and Norris who hit doubles, and Plunkett who hit a single.
Dylan Butler hit his fourth home run of the season, which was a three-run home run, during the game in the seventh inning which led the Cavs to a 15-4 lead. Butler currently has 14 RBIs for the season and a .382 average from nine games.
“The rest of our season looks great, we can compete with anybody we step on the field with and we have the ability to beat every team in our conference,” Breittholz said. “We’re going to open up a lot of eyes and shock a lot of people.”
