The Cabrini men’s soccer team beat Immaculata University, 2-0, on Wednesday, Oct. 10, in a game on the Mighty Macs’ home field. The 2-0 victory for the Cavs helped them gain rank in the Colonial States Athletic Conference, now 3-2-1 in the league and in fourth place.

The first half was scoreless as the two teams battled for possession of the ball. Returning to action was junior goalkeeper Eric Nowicki, who left Cabrini’s last game on Monday, Oct. 8, with an injury. Nowicki sat comfortably in his net throughout the first half during the possession struggle00.

The game got interesting during the first 6 minutes of the second half. Junior Brett Lockbaum scored a beautiful goal that helped the Cavs draw first blood.

The Cavs recorded five shots on the Mighty Macs as Nowicki would only face one shot on target. Lockbaum scored again in the 83rd minute off a feed from senior Anthony Girolamo to ice the game. It was Lockbaum’s third goal of the season and eighth of his career. Girolamo’s assist tied him for the team lead in points with 10.

Nowicki would post a shutout in his return, marking the seventh of his career and third of the season.

The men’s soccer team now sits at 5-7-2 overall and will be home on Saturday, Oct. 13, to host Centenary College. The action will begin at 3 p.m.
