Campus Ministry’s upcoming auction on Thursday, Nov. 29 will have some new events going on. This auction is a fund-raiser to support several upcoming immersion trips. They have grown their trips by adding student leaders to each trip and allowing them to help form the groups who will be attending. Campus Ministry has also added an immersion trip to New Orleans, which took place last year, that “helps strengthen the Cabrini connection to the community in New Orleans,” the Rev. Carl Janicki said. Campus Ministry is trying to strengthen the connection to the community in New Orleans because of the Cabrini High School located there, which college students visit.
Last year, Campus Ministry added a power point presentation which ran the entire day that showed the pictures and student quotes from the trip and they added student speakers every half hour so those bidding could hear from the students who have and who will benefit from their donations. The peer ministers divided up the area stores among various participants and had them work to obtain donations for the auction.
The same thing is happening again this year and Campus Ministry is hoping for around 60 gift baskets to bid on. Campus Ministry has also tried to add baskets that would appeal directly to students and will have a few student-centered baskets again this year. Campus Ministry has plans to add another international trip next year as well.
For this year, Campus Ministry also has raffle tickets so you can possibly win an iPad2, a camera, an otter box for iPhone 4, and a Peace plaque.
Last year, Campus Ministry raised over $5,000, which helps fund various trips Campus Ministry has.
“We are hoping to do better than this again this year in order to ensure all our interested students can participate and keep their costs to a minimum,” Janicki said.
