Words from Dan
I started taking photography seriously in 8th grade. By sophomore year, I knew it was something I wanted to pursue in the future. I was the treasurer for my high school photo club and now I’m actively involved in Cabrini’s. I originally started taking up photography to document family events, but now I do it because I like to capture moments & share them with people who can’t experience them first-hand.
Artistically, two amazing photographers inspire me. First is a local photographer, Cate Paxson who taught herself everything she knows about photography. Her passion for her work inspires me to do the same. Second is Gene Duncan, a photographer for Walt Disney World who produces work that gives you an urge to take your own [work] to the next level.
In the future, I hope to become a photojournalist for a news company in New York. I want to be able to take pictures and tell a story with them on a daily basis and give somebody a reason to read the paper everyday. Photography takes me outside of war, the economy and politics and gives me the ability to express myself freely without having to worry about any of that. I love it.
