Junior education major, President Melissa Matsanka of Cabrini’s PSEA organization.
Student PSEA has partnered with a local organization, Feel the Warmth, to run a school supplies drive.
“Local businesses have also partnered with Feel the Warmth and we were very happy to join the drive,” Matsanka said. “My role in this drive was contacting Feel the Warmth and spreading the word around campus about the drive.”
The winter school supplies drive helps local children in need in Montgomery County and Chester County to restock their school supplies.
“We started this drive the first week of the semester and it runs until Feb. 12th. I spent a lot of time planning the drive in terms of setting it up, getting SEaL to approve the drive, and getting the word out to the students and faculty on campus,” Matsanka said.
The school supplies drive is collecting various items such as pencils, paper, crayons, backpacks, notebooks and folders. The drive is also collecting uniforms sizes 10 to 20. The drive will run until Feb. 12th and donation boxes are put around the school to collect these items.
After the drive ends, Feel the Warmth collects the items to distribute to local students.
“This is the first year that we have done this drive, but I am hoping to continue this for many years,” Matsanka said.
