After graduating in 2014, Brandon Mincer knew he wanted more from Cabrini. After completing his undergrad as a social work major, Mincer understood that the only way to truly do something extraordinary in his field was to dive deeper into his education.

Mincer loved Cabrini College.

He felt so strongly about his experience at Cabrini he decided to pursue his career as a graduate admissions counselor. Not too soon after he started working, Mincer decided to further his education with Cabrini in their graduate program.

“I figured it would be cool and easy to further my education at the school that I graduated from and that I work at,” Mincer said. “Cabrini also offers one of the best teacher-education programs.”

Mincer is now currently studying to get a Masters of  Education as well as a teaching certificate in Pre-K through fourth grade. He has always wanted to become a teacher.

Mincer is mostly intrigued by learning new things.

Throughout his experience at Cabrini, Mincer has come across many incredible mentors. Dr. Donald Taylor and Saleem Brown are both two that particularly inspired him to possess strong work ethic.

Cabrini offers three graduate studies programs, a Master of Education and Teaching Certifications, Master of Science in Leadership and Master of Accounting. There are many different routes you can take within the different programs.

In the Master of Education and Teaching Certification, students can choose from getting a Master’s with ESL certification, pre-kindergarten through fourth grade certification, reading specialist certification, secondary education certification and special education certification. Students are also able to study to get a Master’s in teaching and learning, curriculum, instruction and assessment, Master’s in education and thesis and the graduate intern certificate program. There are also the options of teacher continuing education and school administrator continuing education which you can chose from.

Cabrini also offers off campus graduate studies programs. These classes are usually held Tuesday through Thursday depending on which of the six locations you have chosen. The Harrisburg location provides classes only on Tuesday nights whereas Downingtown and North Philadelphia hold classes strictly on Thursday nights. If students are not near able to make any of those four locations or times, they still have the choice of Plymouth Meeting or Upper Darby for Wednesday night classes.

To get accepted into these graduate studies programs, you must fulfill Cabrini’s admissions requirements. You must complete the application and pay the fee as well as provide official transcripts and meet the GPA requirement. You also must have one letter of recommendation from your professor or an employer familiar with your work as well as a one page statement containing your personal goals.
Mincer stated that he “loves the professors.” He thinks that the graduate studies program is really good and that all of the professors “are well educated in their profession” and that they really know what they are teaching. They are very helpful and Mincer says he can look up to them. Mincer loves the Cabrini community as well as his job. Look around campus for this familiar face and say hi!
