What do you do in your house during your spare time ? Do you watch movies , work out or sleep most of your day ?

Video games have always been around and they have only evolved. In these times with the Coronavirus video games might become the new norm for a lot of people.

Even with the NBA season cancelled, NBA2K20 the video game has taken over the NBA season by doing simulator games that were supposed to be played on that day in the NBA.

Cabrini has also taken a step into esports by having spring’s intramural leagues online. Currently Cabrini has two leagues to join–FIFA mobile and RocketLeague, with more to add in the upcoming weeks.

This is a great way to keep the students connected with each other and bring a little light during these dark times.

A very popular game out right now is “Call of Duty: Warzone,” which is a 2020 free-to-play battle royal video game released on March 10, 2020.  This video game runs on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. The game is a part of the 2019 title Call of Duty; Warzone, but does not require purchase of it.

Another popular game out is Fortnite. Fortnite is an online video game developed by “Epic Games,” which was released in 2017. Fortnite is also a battle royal video game.

With times like this and everybody across the world being home mostly all day , everyday video games are a great way to burn some time.

Out of 50 Cabrini students, 41 are playing video games because they are so bored at home. Of those 41 students, 15 of them don’t play video games regularly.

“I pretty much play video games all day, everyday,” said Maraiyah Smith. “I mean there is nothing else to really do during this quarantine other than video games, work out and homework,”she said.

“Some of the games I’ve been playing a lot are ‘Call of Duty: Warzone’ and ‘Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order,’” she said.

“My favorite games of all time are ‘Gears of War’ and ‘Halo’ Smith said. “I could play those all the time and never get tired of them.”

“Yes I played video games before this quarantine,” Smith said. “Being locked down and told to stay in the house all the time has only made me play them more.”
