Valentine’s Day is a day for all couples to go out and celebrate a night of romance.

There are those who are single who do not particularly care for this holiday mostly because they do not have a special someone to share their day with.

The Body Image Coalition planned an event called Galentine’s day. The evening event was held on Feb. 13, in the Library conference room.
The Galentine’s Day extravaganza had all types of food.

They had waffles, biscuits, cookies and cinnamon buns. They also put ring pops around the table for people to snack on when they all sat around and talked to each other.
“I got the idea when I was watching the show Parks and Recreation. They put together a party called Galentines Day. It is an event that is the day before Valentine’s Day where a bunch of the women in the show got together and celebrated them selves just for the day. They would all get together and talk and just be together without any guys,” events coordinator of Body Image, Nia Joi, said.

As girls came in and sat around, they talked about their past relationships and how one has to make sure they are happy with the person they end up with.

“I came to the event because I signed up for the club at the involvement fair, at the beginning of this semester, and this was the first event that I heard of. I wanted to come check it out and I’m really glad that I came. This event was a lot of fun and I loved meeting new people,” senior Karlès Austin said.

The president of the club was glad it was a success.

“As president of Body Image I loved the idea of this event. Im glad that people came and talked and we got to know people and got more members. I love this club and loving yourself is the most important thing you can do,” Body Image president, Vanessa Lawrence-Fulton, said.
