Another school year ends

I can't believe this year is just about over. I got lucky too, no finals. The first story I wrote for this paper was about transferring, and how bad of an experience it was. While I may have already done the first-year at college thing, transferring here was still a new experience.

Playing for the ‘love of the game’

Normally, Cabrini's Division III softball would have approximately 12-15 players on the team. This however, is not true for this year's roster. Although they would like to have a surplus of players, there are only 11 girls playing this year, but it isn't something that's holding them back.

Girl scouts not so un-cool

In elementary school, or what some call junior high, being a Girl Scout was most definitely the most 'un-cool' thing to do. Guess what? I decided to do it anyway. Making that choice was one of the best decisions I have ever made. My mom had tried to get me involved in scouts for years but no one had room for just one more person.

Intern to leave Cabrini

There may be some confusing words around campus. It has been said that the sports psychologist is leaving. This however, is not completely true. Although referred to as the sports psychologist, he is not due to being licensed by the state of Pa. anytime soon.

New York urinals pucker up

Red, lip-shaped urinals were to be installed in the Virgin Atlantic Airways clubhouse in New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport. Designed by a woman of a Dutch company, Virgin Atlantic Airway's plan was to spoil their first-class customers. Due to complaints from dozens of people and groups, the plan was scrapped.

Embracing sexuality

Over this last year, in the battle for marriage among gays, I have been privy to some of the most disparaging, prejudice and racist comments about same-sex relationships in all my life. From demonizing the gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgender community to referring to the people in this community as less than human, I have heard it all.

Men’s tennis prepared to take court

After fun, sun and a lot of hard work, Cabrini's tennis team is back and ready for the upcoming season. Both the men and women's teams spent seven days of their spring break in Hilton Head, S.C. with coaches Rich Aldrete and Scott Giblin. Each day, both teams spent two to three hours practicing.

Leading the PAC

This season holds high hopes for the women's lacrosse team. Not only is the team looking forward to winning its conference, but it is hoping to go further into the NCAA tournament. In January, the team started training but has been challenged for gym space due to the basketball teams and other spring sports teams wanting to practice.

Signs of immaturity seen on campus

When I came back from break, I think I must have made a wrong turn. Before break I thought I was at Cabrini High School, although I applied to Cabrini College, but now I feel like I'm at the elementary school. I know five-year-olds who are more considerate than the majority of people I pass here.

Publishers try to persuade professors

Textbooks are a major expense for just about any student and an incredibly important decision for their professors. Choosing a text is one of the most important decisions an instructor makes in building his or her course. The publishers of college textbooks work extremely hard to get college professors all over the country to use specific textbooks.
