As it’s no secret, not everyone is enthusiastic about President-elect Donald Trump winning the presidency and that continues to leave a sour taste for a large sum of Americans. For the other half of Americans who are pro-Trump, they’re still exuding pride and excitement to this very day.

However, there has been a lot of talk of boycotting the inauguration because for a lot of Americans, this is one of the most drastic changes in how the presidency will run. Already, we see traditions being broken in the inauguration ceremony and it’s already enraged a lot of Americans.

So that leaves the question: Are you tuning in to watch Trump’s inauguration or are you apart of this boycott.

Amber Holly, senior at Xavier University, was not shy about the inauguration.

“I’m boycotting,” Holly said. “I don’t think he deserved the presidency and he’s already causing problems that’ll have long-term effects on us. I don’t support him, ergo, I’m not watching.”

Amber Holly is a political science major at Xavier University, so she’s very adamant about her decision.

“I’m still not too happy about the election, but that doesn’t mean I constantly show it. I know how to hide how I feel politically, because emotions and politics shouldn’t mix but they do. We saw that in November,” Holly said.

Holly wasn’t not the only one who felt that way, even some of the older generations is skipping Trump’s inauguration. Thomas LeBelle, a 67-year-old elder, was not in support of the inauguration either.

“Watching the ceremony is another way of showing your support for Trump,” LeBelle said. “I’m not letting anyone in my household watch it. Maybe if Trump sees how many people aren’t supporting him by not watching, then it’ll be a reality check for him.”

The whole point of the boycott the inauguration is to silently protest against Trump’s presidency in an anti-Trump manner and to drop the ratings drastically. According to CNN, about 25 U.S. Democratic representatives have announced that they will not attend to inauguration Jan. 20. You can read the full story here.

On top the Rockettes not performing this year for the inauguration, Trump also fired Charles Brotman. Brotman has been announcing the inauguration since Eisenhower in 1957. Floris LaBella, 62 year-old wife of Thomas Labelle, was inclined with her husband.

“He’s already breaking traditions. I’ve been watching Brotman for almost all my life,” LaBelle said. “But I still want to watch the ceremony just to pay my last respects to the Obamas.”
