Alpha Delta Gamma is currently the only Fraternity at Cabrini. This past summer the chapter received the “Most Improved Chapter” award at the National Convention, which took place in Fort Lauderdale, FL.

It was the first national convention that the Cabrini chapter has ever attended. Student President John McManus said that this past year was the best year that the chapter has had thus far. “Every aspect of the fraternity we improved on, we got 100 percent better,” McManus said.

He and two other members attended the convention.

The chapter started at Cabrini in 2007 and has been going strong ever since. It is dedicated to service, scholastics, socials, school spirit and spirituality through brotherhood. “Without this fraternity I would not be at Cabrini still,” McManus Said. “The group of guys we have are great.”

McManus loves the brotherhood aspect that a fraternity like Alpha Delta Gamma has to offer. “I came from a giant brotherhood in high school where we did everything together,” McManus said. “I just wanted to keep this going even after high school. I felt like I could really continue the brotherhood aspect in a different way with my college career.”

McManus ran for and was elected president of the chapter last spring. He enjoys the leadership role and hopes that even after he graduates, that the legacy will continue. The fraternity’s main future goal is to win chapter of the year at the national convention.

“We really hope to be in the running for that this upcoming year,” McManus said.

Alpha Delta Gamma has several events planned for the upcoming year. They will be working with Habitat for Humanity for their national day of service on Oct. 10. All the chapters around the country will take part in this event as well. On Oct. 18 they will be attending the Breast Cancer Awareness Walk and on Oct. 24 they will participate in the AIDS Walk as well. The chapter also plans to volunteer at a soup kitchen in West Philadelphia during Thanksgiving to help feed those in need.

Alpha Delta Gamma will also be hosting the national convention this upcoming February right here on Cabrini’s campus. From Feb. 21 to 24 all members from all around the country will travel to Radnor to attend various workshops and leadership symposiums. President McManus says he will also be speaking at the convention.
