The men’s lacrosse team entered today’s game coming off three straight losses. The No.12 Cavs got off to a hot start this season, winning their first five games of the season. Two of those victories came against top 10 ranked teams, No. 5 Lynchburg College and No. 9 Ohio Wesleyan University.
The Cavs needed to turn things around and get back on the winning side of things against the Neumann Knights for the first Colonial State Athletic Conference game of the season. They certainly added to the win column in their match up against the Knights. The Cavs finished the game with a 26 point victory, their largest win margin of the season.
The box score for the Blue and White was full of big numbers. The team took 56 shots and scored on 27 of their attempts. Neumann goalie, sophomore Antonio Gibson, had 12 saves. The Cavs won 28 of 31 faceoffs and had 68 ground balls.
“A collaborative team effort,” Austin Edelman, senior defenseman, said. “A lot of young guys got the opportunity to step up and make an impact.”
As for the individual performances, sophomore attackman James Magnani scored five goals and added an assist for a total of six points in the contest. A total of 15 Cavaliers scored a goal in the game. The lone goal by the Knights was scored by sophomore attackman Adam Fagan.
The Cavaliers will host Keystone College at Edith Robb Dixon Field on Saturday, April 2 at 3 p.m.
