Does Cabrini offer enough on-campus activities?

As a full-time commuter student with a part-time job, I do not go to many on-campus activities provided by Cabrini. However, when I was living on campus freshman year, I went to a lot of activities on Cabrini’s campus.

The activities I went to freshman year were dances, bingo, quizzo and homecoming activities. This year, being an orientation leader, I have only been to the freshman on-campus activities so far. I feel as if I am not really notified as to what most of the on-campus activities are as a commuter student. I see the signs around campus, but most of the time I am busy trying to get to class on time or in a rush to get to work after class.

I really only know what the the on-campus activities from last year are like as well as the few that I have attended this year, which so far have been pretty fun. I think the freshmen activities are really engaging and good for the new students to get to know one another, especially the play fair.

The dances, such as homecoming and the Valentine’s Day dance, have had fun music that get some people dancing, but most people are either too busy standing around and watching with their friends or too shy to go out and dance.

As a commuter student, I feel as if on-campus activities are a little hard to get to, especially the late activities. I would have to find a friend’s room to sleep in as well as make sure I get up early enough to get to work the next morning.

I think the on-campus activities are pretty creative, especially the names. For example, Taco Tuesday by the Campus and Activities Programs (CAP) Board, is such a great idea. It is different food for both resident and commuter students to eat.

Another on-campus activity that I really enjoy is Cabrini Day. I think it is really fun to see our friends and classmates present different topics that they have researched and worked really hard on. I had so much fun at Cabrini Day last year doing a simulation, Refugees Seeking Safety, for my ECG 100 class and earning first place.

I am really big into working out so some activities I would like to see happen this year on campus would have to do with sports or fitness. An idea could be yoga behind the mansion or a seminar on how to create a workout and meal plan.
