Cabrini women’s volleyball has taken the number one spot in the annual CSAC coaches’ poll. The Cavaliers got six out of the 12 first place votes, and received 116 points overall. Cabrini’s rival, Neumann University placed second in the poll getting the remaining six first-place votes and 108 points overall.
The Cavs this year are looking to reclaim their CSAC title after losing it last year in a 3-2 loss to Neumann University last year in the CSAC title match.
Cabrini posted a 20-10 record overall and dominated in conference play going 10-1. Blue and white also had an 11 game win streak in the middle of their season.
Head coach Eric Schaefer is entering his seventh season as the head coach and has 10 players returning from last year’s team. Among those coming back is All-CSAC First Team athlete senior Danielle Carrozza and CSAC Rookie of the Year, Cassidy Koenig.
The Cavaliers begin their 2013 season at the DeSales University Invitational, Aug. 30-31, playing Muhlenberg and Ithica Colleges on Friday. Then on Saturday Cavs will play Albright College and DeSales University.
The Cavaliers will be on the road for four more games at The John Hopkins University, Greg Giovanazzi Memorial Tournament from Sept. 6-7.
The Lady Cavs will have their first CSAC and home game, at the Nerney Field House, welcoming Gwynedd-Mercy College on Sept. 12 at 7 p.m.
