The weather has been less than ideal for the men’s tennis team this year, but that is not stopping them from putting forth their best efforts.
The Cavaliers suffered a 4-3 loss against Ursinus College on Thursday, April 3. They continued with another out of conference match against King’s College on Sunday, April 6, which they lost 5-2.
In the match against Ursinus Scott Giblin, Bill Mariano and John Lobb came out victorious.
“It came down to the wire, everyone fought really hard. We just couldn’t get over that hump,” junior Mike Sofia said.
Giblin and Taylor Duffy won their matches against King’s College.
“As a team we all played really well we just lost to a better team,” Sofia said.
The temperature was only in the 30s for Sunday’s match. The weather has been a problem for the tennis team all season. From the rain to the cold weather practices and matches have been cancelled. Practicing in cold weather is not good for the body. however, practicing in the cold has helped give Cabrini the edge in a few cold weather, matches.
Despite the two losses, senior Giblin remained undefeated. He is now 8-0, and with the season reaching its halfway point, he stands a good chance of remaining undefeated throughout the season.
Giblin has been undefeated in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference before, but has never gone an entire season without losing a match.
The two losses give the Cavaliers a record of 5-3 overall and 3-1 in the PAC.
The team will host Neumann College on April 10.
